Poorly ear

Sorry it’s been such a long haul but hopefully the gunk is gone soon with the new drops! Beautiful photo of the lovely Cass :inlove:

Does she mind getting them?
I was concerned about how I'd manage, but she's been amazingly tolerant. She doesn't like the wash going in, but quite likes the cleaning. The drops I just pop in later once the ear is dry when I see her resting with the left ear uppermost.
Squeezy cheese has been enormously helpful!! I place it next to us and I can see her looking towards it as if to say "I've let you do that, now it's reward time!"
Also she was very happy going back into the vets room, so it can't have been that bad!

Hunter also had a gunky ear. Interestingly my vet approach was very different. She cleaned his ear and it was so deep that I thought she was going to tickle his throat. I was quite worried but Hunter had no issues. She then squirted a whole tube of cream in his ear and massaged it. The groans from Hunter were very embarrassing. Repeated again 4 days later and his ear is all good. I asked about drops but she said the cream was much better.

We had a different approach as well. They took Hugo back in the treatment area and deep cleaned his ears, then did a ‘one shot’ treatment and that was it, I’m curious now if that was also a cream? We do go back today for a 2 week recheck to make sure it’s all gone but he hasn’t been scratching at all since so I’m hopeful so far.

So this problem has resurfaced again, and Cass is booked in for exploration under sedation next Wednesday.. Vet Molly( who I have known since she was five and who grew up with my two) couldn't see the ear drum and Cass was for the first time very reluctant to allow examination, so I think they definitely need to be able to have a proper look.
She's currently on steroids- might I be seeing a return to the Cass of younger days ? :giggl::tail:

I hope you manage to get to the bottom of it. It’s worth sorting them out as soon as possible.

Snowie’s ears are really very bad. We neglected them when he was younger, not knowing there was a problem. They responded well to a thorough cleaning under sedation a couple of years ago, but ongoing it’s been very tough. I just cleaned out an ear today, but his ear canals are so thickened that it’s impossible to get out all the gunk.
