Poppy seizures - medicating with Pexion

Having had an epileptic dog I can see that this is such a shock for you and deeply upsetting. I do hope it is a one off. If she has more, you might have to have consider medication, but hope it doesn't come to that. Thinking of you.

How horribly upsetting @MellowYellow , I am sorry and particularly as you’d hoped this was all in the past. It still might be a one off, but just so very destabilizing for you all. Thank goodness you were prepped and could do all you did

Oh, Karen, I’m so sorry. It must have been so scary for you all. I’m glad you were there with her, but it must had a worry not knowing what triggered it. We can’t help, but know that we understand how upset and scared you must be for your darling girl, and we all wish you all the best xxx

I am so sorry Karen that you and Poppy had to go through this. I am glad that she is sleeping with you tonight and hope you both have a good
nights sleep. Will you get in touch with the vet. Sending lambies for Poppy :thelambiesarecoming::penguinkiss::thelambiesarecoming:

Hi everyone, thank you all for your good wishes, I really appreciate it. Poppy had a good night, and seems fine today - a little subdued and tired, but that's not surprising really. She's just out with OH for a little walk. You will be glad to know it has not affected her appetite!

I did speak to the vet yesterday, and we agreed that unless she has any more seizures it is not worth bringing her in, as we have done countless tests on her in the past that were all inconclusive. OH did go to the vet to get a refill of the diazepam suppositories in case she has another fit. Frighteningly, the vet gave me her mobile number with the instructions that if Poppy gets into a long seizure that doesn't stop, that we should call her immediately and she would meet us at the surgery or come to our home, day or night, with emergency medication to inject to stop the seizure. Hopefully we will never need to call her for that.

Otherwise, it's just the same as before - note when and where the seizure happened and any possible triggers. Keep her under close observation and don't leave her alone for the next 48 hours. Start the clock again from now.

I really do feel for you Karen, it must be even worse when one comes out of the blue after such a long time . At least with my little girl , she had them regularly ( about one a week ) and so she was put onto phenobarbs which were magic for her but with Poppy its very different indeed . Fingers crossed for you and your dear girl xxx

It’s good to hear that Poppy had a good night and is back to normal today. Although the vet’s reaction sounds rather frightening it must be very reassuring to know that help is just a phone call away if it happens again. Let’s hope you don’t need it, though. :thelambiesarecoming:

Oh Karen, I am so sorry. When I saw the post, my heart sunk. Do you know if Poppy ate anything on the walk? I remember once when Snowie had a seizure, it was after eating human poo, which no doubt had remnants of drugs given who would poo in a public spot.

I hope this is a one off. It’s so awful now worrying if there will be another. I know it took me years not to worry about if Snowie would have another.

Thinking of you and hoping you can relax and enjoy Poppy’s company without having to worry. I know it’s very difficult. xxx
