Poppy

What a difficult time you are having @MellowYellow and mentally and physically tiring for you. If Poppy is drinking a lot I wonder whether she has diabetes, you could take a urine sample to the vet, or perhaps her kidneys are failing? Would the vet come to the house if it is so stressful for Poppy to go to the surgery? When I first had Flicka and she was a nervous wreck, I had to get the vet out just for a worm pill, they wouldn't prescribe unless they had seen her! Worth a try xx
A recent blood test showed that all her organs are in good working order. I think she just likes to drink because it fills her stomach and doesn't make her feel sick - but that's just my take on it.

I understand what you are going through @MellowYellow. Six years ago I lost my mum and Sky our black Labrador within a month of each other - it was incredibly difficult as I was also taking a young granddaughter to school and back daily involving a lot of driving. It is exhausting and I really feel for you. You are in my thoughts. Take care of yourself
Oh, that must have been awful for you Alison. I am sorry :(

Today I thought I would have to fly to the UK this week, but now I think I can wait until next week. I feel very torn, because of course I want to be with my mother at this time, but I am also sure that if I leave again Poppy will stop eating completely and die while I am away. I think my mum has had enough really and does not want to battle on much longer. I talked to my sisters today and they think she likely has a few more weeks. Of course I will have to put mum first - but it would break my heart to leave Poppy, knowing that I likely will not see her again.
