How come I keep missing interesting posts! I enjoyed reading about the class you gave and Merlin was a very good boy to settle and not whine.

That sounds amazing - such concentration in his own lesson and then the ability to relax. It also sounds as if you're being able to do quite a lot more with Merlin than you'd feared at one point.

Yes, I am able to do more with him than I thought at one point - but it is always a balancing act between what he needs to keep him mentally stimulated and happily on the one hand, and his physical limitations on the other. I do feel I am getting better at judging the balance though.

I’ve made a big decision, to keep on with the gundog training with him for now, and not to do the fit for fun course - it would all be too much during the winter, when all our training classes are at the weekend. I’ll do dummy work with him for as long as his health allows - we can always go back to the other training at a later date.
