I’m a bit behind with this, Maslow has has had a bad leg.. which is no excuse at all because it’s a laying down activity.. oh and I’ve been distracted doing middle 😂

Anyway Day 12 today.. we did it in a classroom with kids in it.. to make it more interesting I had the kids with his treats and he had to lay in a corner... the kids were randomly chucking a treat over at him.. so he had no idea where it was coming from and/or how often!

It went surprisingly well! The kids aims were shocking though 😂

I'm very impressed. That must be a huge challenge for any dog, let alone a youngster - I'm not sure that Harv would manage with all of those potential people to give him the love and affection that he thinks he deserves. :inlove:

I think because he’s been at school since he was 8 weeks old he’s not *that* bothered...

I won’t however mention the squirrel today that he legged it to chase... considering he’s on no off lead exercise still, wrenching the lead out of my hand and bombing after it was not the highlight... :ram:

Or yesterday when he spotted a parents dog standing at the gate with 300 parents in full view of him barking and trying to leap out of the window...

Or when he did a massive poo in the corridor last week because he got stopped on the way to the toilet so many times by kids... who scarpered quite quickly when they saw what he was doing 😂😂 :dogpoo::sheepfence::wasntme:

Day 15 (2) done

Pretty uneventful really ... which is exactly what we want :happyfeet:

I think I'll give it another run through and reduce the treat frequency (whilst trying not to over-do the praise as this is more likely to move Harv than any of the daily challenges!)

Yesterday I had to go and support a child in a class and Maslow couldn’t come.. anytime I’ve left him previous he has barked and/or destroyed something in the classroom (remembers the trauma when he ate the children’s salt dough art 😩)

I left him for 15 minutes.. but then the situation escalated and I had to stay longer.... an hour later I went back and he’s sound asleep!!!! Whoop

Excellent stuff.

Do you take a special bed or blanket to school with you for him to use or does he have a particular place at school where you ask him to settle?

Days 1-3 (3) done.

The reduction in treats doesn't seem to be giving us any problems - I'm giving the treats randomly and giving gentle praise for the exercises where a treat isn't given.

@Leanne and @UncleBob - you're keeping me going on this thread. We haven't done it for a few weeks now due to all sorts of not having the time schenanigans but I've not given up and really like hearing about your successes. Thank you!
Also what a great job from Mas, that's really impressive.

I started on this today, just as something calm to do during the day if Squidge gets a bit antsy. I did it in the garden as it's the easiest place to line four dog beds up so I can do the same thing with them all at once. Anyone else doing this with multiple dogs? :D

At training (‘pre-agility’) last night they introduced the 12 boundaries of Christmas - all boundary games for improving duration, distraction proofing and general comfort on beds.40A0F39C-DEB2-43EE-AF2A-DFF3ACAACC0E.jpeg
Kipper did really rather well, but we should have done as it was a far more basic form of the relaxation protocol (thanks @Leanne !). It’s reminded me again of the value of this, so whilst I’ve got time over Christmas I’m going to start the RP from scratch.
Here’s Kipper being excellent on his bed at training last night :)
