Reuben isnt very well

I’m not sure if you can remember but Stanley had something similar to this a few years back. The vets just couldn’t find the problem. (And we had to cancel our holiday.. grumble)

It turned out he had too much stomach acid, so the vets gave him some tablets to stop him producing any for a while and it cleared up. Could be worth mentioning if he’s still poorly.

Metronidazole can cause nausea, so hopefully that's the cause of the vomit and he really is on the mend. Paws crossed!

Thanks love , I just read the side effects on the box , so hopefully this was the cause . I`ve just been a short walk with him , his poo was normal so fingers crossed for more of the same xx

Just back home from a longer walk , 30 minutes during which we had another normal offering ,Yay He was really happy to be out, despite the horrible weather , more interested in general , I really do feel positive now , thank you so much for taking this journey with me xxxx

I was just thinking do you know if any other dogs from his playgroup have been similar to Reuban Kate? If it is a bug he could've easily picked it up there if others have had it. Would be about right for incubation period.

He hasnt been to Playgroup for about twelve days as I cancelled his upcoming one , so the last time he went was on Tuesday 11th Feb when my sister was here for lunch , so I dont think he picked it up there, but according to the Vets, this bug ( if thats what it is ) is running rampant in our part of Cornwall .
The Metronidazole definately gives him a bit of tummy ache but it soon goes off , and I guess its important that he finish the five day course even if he seems much improved xx

Good news about the walk! Yes, he ought to finish the course of Metronizadole, then he should be back to normal without any relapses.

Bless him, he only had 30 minutes today and is snoring away like he has done miles and miles , he has been such a trouper , eating his tablets like treats but what I would like to know is , how do the Vets know that the tabs taste bitter ? Who tried them ?

Really?? What medication is it? I’m sure Lilly has has one before where we were “advised” to wear gloves

Metronidazole is a confirmed carcinogen in laboratory animals and has possible carcinogenic effects in humans. However, there is inadequate evidence in humans for the carcinogenicity of metronidazole. Don't know about gloves. But make sure your pups keep of the booze when on Metronidazole
