Well now I'm a little freaked out. We're currently using (prescribed by the dr) metronidazole gel on Nathan's face for the treatment of perioral dermatitis.

Sorry this freaked you out @Emily , I wouldnt worry as its prescribed by your doctor , most likely a tiny amount which isnt going to harm him , sorry again for scaring you x

We use it orally and topically quite frequently. I have never come across this warning.

Another good poo for Reuben this afternoon , I think we are on the way to being well again, thank goodness . I know I worry terribly but he has really been very unwell indeed , and after losing Sam so young , I cant help but worry over my rainbow boy so I just have to slowly build his stamina up again now , he is having Chappie for his tea today , its supposed to be good for tums x

I have used metronidazole for my face quite a lot (started 25 years ago)because of my rosacea. I think the warning is for the animal version of this medication.

We understand totally. It’s horrible when our dogs are ill - worrying and exhausting. So pleased Reuben is getting better. My SIL feeds her dogs on Chappie - she swears by it whereas I always thought it was just cheap food. Would be interested on your opinion of it

I always keep a tin of Chappie in the cupboard , not for regular use but it is very easy to digest , so I`m informed ! This is the original Chappie , containing mashed up fish , not the chicken one . Reubs has coped with it very well , but the wind last night ( from him, not outside ! ) was awful x

I took this photo today , Reuben has always been very slim, but during his poorliness he seemed to lose a lot of weight , he is fit and well now but oh how I wish he could just gain a little xx

Hos coat looks dull on the above photo but it isnt really , he is still shiny and full of beans , just so damned skinny although the Vet isnt unduly worried x
