Sam

Its almost eight months since we said Farewell to my darling boy , sometimes it seems like only yesterday as the hurt is still as raw . I wouldn't mind so much if it were just Paul and I missing him , but there is a little boy over the road who still cries at night from time to time , its so much harder for a ten year old to cope , because he cant remember a time that Sam wasn't around , they were simply the best buddies ever . Sam had Lymphoma , a horrible and unfair disease for a ( then ) five year old to be diagnosed with , but I tell you what , he didn't half make the most of the eighteenish months he survived following the pathologists report , each day was filled with fun , wonderful walks , and love , much love . He was a good dog , a damned good dog , no angel though, he had his moments especially in his youth ! I recall one of those moments when he gate crashed a picnic, legging it with a "snatched out of the hand sandwich " , whilst I pretended he wasn't mine ! But on the whole, yes, Sam was a blinkin good dog , very much missed . Here he is with me , he was my rock xx

I think Sam has a place in all our hearts. From the stories you've told us it's like having known that big, black, gorgeous dog who loved every minute he had with you, Paul , Millie, Nel and of course Silas. The fun times are the memories that will stay strongest in the end. xx

Such a lovely dog. It was hard to follow his journey on the forum, but he was so lucky to have you, just as you and your family were lucky to have him. x

Aww, lovely Sammy boy who taught Dexter how fun water is. Will always remember our couple of meetings with gorgeous gentle Sam. He was a treasure for sure and has his own special place in my heart ????

@Shortie , I have to laugh , thinking about when you came for lunch with young Dexter , he and Sam were having a blast in the garden , then ran in , doing zoomies round and round the sitting room , into the hallways , kitchen and back ! We were laughing at them , and then from his chair came Pauls quiet remark " Time to take them to the river ? " !!! Very small bungalow and two wildly excited Labradors = chaos ! xxx
