One week down, one to go! Quinn was feeling pretty crappy last week, was still very nauseous and wasn't eating much. I was home with her all week and she mostly slept, with some pee breaks and small snacks (and a big to-do to get the pills down). On the pill front, she is a dog who will usually eat any pill like it's a treat, no problem. I usually drop it into her kibble. This time...heck no. She hated the antibiotic especially and after a couple times putting it in food, went on a hunger strike. I changed course and used the same method as I did for eye and ear drops and if she said "no" (walks away or turns her head), then I wait and try again later until she is willing to take them on her own. By the weekend, when I said "pills" she would come over and sit and eat each one in cream cheese (don't tell vet about cheese!).
Today was her first day of no meds and she was much more herself - a few yanks trying to run at the park on a short walk tells me she is getting her energy back! Today was also her first day home alone for a few hours. Her dog walker came over to play indoors and give her a small meal and she did fine for the couple hours. We did leave her with the Kong Cloud around her neck, even though she hasn't bothered with the incision site at all. She still has another week on a bland diet and leash walks until her stitches come out. We took her to the vet to get weighed and buy more food, as we wanted to make sure she was ok going back in there. She's gained just over a pound but we can still feel her spine and hip bones. I'll transition her back to her own food this weekend and she should start putting the weight back on. Sadly, she has lost most of her muscle tone gained in the summer.
