If you’re already bathing in salt water after the walk, can she do her walk without the boot? The boot might be rubbing it and making it more sore?

II am using a plastic film wound dressing, the sort that doesn’t stick to wounds together with don’t laugh, soft makeup remover pads to cover the sore so it’s well padded. I would have liked to use a bandage but the vet advised against a full dressing.

Paw injuries are the worst! My border collie had a paw wound one time requiring all of the palaver you have described and that, plus all the restrictions on walks, resulted in a depressed dog that hid under my bed most of the day by the time it ended. But, you’ll be glad to know he bounced back as soon as normal life resumed and had no ill will towards me.

I’m so pleased you survived the trauma and there was no ill feeling when it healed. I hope she does forgive me eventually.

I’m quite worried about her mental state, she quakes when I go near her and won’t voluntarily come near me unless I’m offering food.
I hope when this is all over she forgives me.

I imagine this is the worst part , but I guess as per Lisa's experience she will forgive you.

Thank you for asking. At long last her paw is healing. I dress her paw with a soft pad, her sock a plastic bag then her boot when she goes out but just her socks inside. She still doesn’t like me much and still leaves the room when I enter but does hold her paw out for me to do the deed.
I hope a few more days and I can dispense with the socks inside.

When we've been dealing with paw injuries I have found these slip-over paw boots very helpful:

I always have some at home now in our doggie first aid box.

They have these in the local pet shop but like Amazon only in a large. I’ve bought 3 pairs of others all marked XL but on arrival were too small. Bella’s got skinny legs but big feet. Can I ask what size you have?

It was dry and dark yesterday but quite red today. I was hoping I could stop putting socks on in the house but I will plod on with the kitclinic for a few more days. Might go back to salt washes instead of hibiscrub.
