Thanks for this, interesting. Squidge doesn't have any necks/gullets/trachea in her diet, so this isn't the cause in her case, but definitely something to keep in mind for anyone who feeds these parts either in the food or as treats.

That is very interesting and not something that has ever occurred to me. Molly does occasionally have duck necks, so useful to be aware of this. Thank you @M.F.

I hope you get to the cause of this problem with her @snowbunny . I guess she couldn't have anything as simple as weak muscle control affecting her bladder could she? I can't recall if she's spayed or not.

Interesting as I also occasionally gave Hattie raw duck necks but not since her kidney's are not working properly, low thyroid and she's a little anaemic. xx

The vet on Monday thinks it's either spay incontinence or diabetes insipidus, so Dr Google (DVM) was on the mark
He gave us some tablets (Incurin) which contain a short-acting estrogen, for the treatment of spay incontinence; if they work, that's what it is, otherwise we'd try the treatment for DI. She started them on Tuesday and has been dry since. That seems very quick, but I'll take it, as she was having an accident at least once a day before we started.
We have a month's supply, so we'll see how she gets on.
I just read the data sheet and it says I should be very careful handling them and wash my hands thoroughly with soapy water after administration. Whoops!

When my 2 bitches took similar tabs for incontinence, it always came on at a certain time of the cycle, I only needed to give them for a few days. (Both spayed).

The tablets contain estriol, which is a very gentle type of the hormone oestrogen. The urethral sphincter (the valve which regulates urine flow) depends on oestrogen to work, and after spay, when oestrogen levels are lower, there may not be enough for it to function correctly. So this gives it the boost it needs so the valve works correctly.
