Well done Stilton, he really is a special puppy. The floor looks very shiny, is it slippy, do the dogs cope with it?
That’s very perceptive of you! During recall all the dogs had trouble with traction, Stilton did best as he’s relatively low to the ground but both the doodle cross and duck toller had a fair amount of ‘wheel spin’.

Is the trainer (and you) not concerned with injuries on a slippy surface? I have often wondered about indoor training! It’s so odd for me to see, but I guess… weather!

As with everything it’s managed risk isn’t it. All the dogs are stationed on their own mats, and 90% of our exercises are place based. Anything with paws up etc is on a mat, and each dog did 4 recalls in total. If I’d had a bigger or heavier dog I’d have slowed it down for the surface. And you’re spot on with weather! Inside is a necessity most of the time.

When I trained indoors, the trainer supplied long rubber mats which he laid around the perimeter.

Stilton continues to be fabulous - very keen, sweet natured, brave but thoughtful, and very funny. Here it comes… but we still have work to do on the jumping up and mouthing. His bite inhibition is excellent, but he does still have razor sharp baby canines which are really impressive. This morning he jumped and mouthed at me, and caught my wrist which made quite a deep slicing wound - one of those ones that doesn’t bleed for a few seconds! I’m just not keen on him at the moment as he scares me, but it’s all par for the course. THIS TOO SHALL PASS…

Those little teefs can be very painful and persistent at times, I remember feeling quite overwhelmed with it at the time with Neo. Billie wasn’t that mouthy as a pup and I was (rather naively) expecting a pretty similar experience second time around - I was not at all mentally prepared for the land shark that I ended up with! Keep on keeping on and I’m sure he will get there soon 🙂

The worse puppy and the one I hated until she was 10 months, turned out to be the most super, super dog.
This! I really really did not like Axel until he was at least 6 months… I definitely told my spouse I hated him and he was his dog. But then all of the sudden he became the most loving and most gentle giant and he became 1000000% my dog and couldn’t imagine never having him in my life ❤

Like you said, this too shall pass! I still have two scars from Axel from those early days where he ripped me open. I cherish those scars now 🥰 (as I am currently reminding myself this daily upon the arrival of my terror croco pup hiding in a chonky cute puppy body😳)

How big is Stilton now?! Photo update?!
