Glad you were able to relax in your garden today. I’m sorry you can’t do that whenever you feel like it 
but I hope you’ll get to the point where you and Red can enjoy it again anytime. We all need a place to relax and feel truly at peace and our gardens and homes should be those places….

You are right. We have lovely neighbours either side of us who have been very kind and supportive of us over the fence debacle. Unfortunately one bad neighbour can cause much upset. She has upset many over the years. She’s always lived in that house so doubt she’ll ever move
It is and once we have the borders planted and established it will be lovely

Just thought I’d do an update on the fence/snarling dogs issue. After a few weeks of using the lead, we are now going outside normally. Red sees me taking a treat out of the pot and has learnt what she gets it for. We had one incident of her rushing out - cos she‘d heard a noise - and she didn’t get the treat. She was miffed at seeing me put it back in the pot. Now she’s watching carefully to see me get the treat out and as soon as she’s had a wee/poo, she’s coming to me and following me back inside to get the treat. Also there’s been less evidence of the snarling dogs’ being outside in their garden now the weather’s changed. I don‘t kid myself their behaviour will have changed but I’m more optimistic we are changing Red’s behaviour.
Additionally, next door (to the one side of us) have got a dog. It was a bit of a surprise as I didn’t think they were dog people. Apparently they have been waiting for the right time in their lives (they are sensible). They’ve got a young beagle mix from the Dogs Trust. We have met her on our walks and Red’s interactions with her have been great. I can foresee a possible fence problem as their side path runs alongside ours with the fence between but…….they are nice people and I’m confident they will work with us should any issues arise. There is also a new puppy living next door to the horrible woman and I’ve heard fence barking with it and the snarling dogs!!! Hopefully that won’t add to our problems. So many people around here have got dogs this year - most homes have one!

Sounds like things are going in the right direction with this Alison 
I think "border" issues must be a big thing really. It's noticeable to me just how much more Cass barks if dogs here come close to the outside edge of our house and garden. We are in a quite unusual set up, other dogs can do that (always out with their owners), any new dog coming in gets a bark, but those she's known since puppyhood don't.
