Teething

Can teething make a puppy drool ? I think Hunter has now lost all his puppy teeth. His last canine tooth, at the bottom, came out yesterday. The adult tooth had already started to come through. It looks like all his back adult teeth have erupted but not fully through just stumps at the moment. Over the weekend he’s drooled, proper stringy drool, a couple of times for no apparent reason and has sometimes looked like he’s got a wetter mouth than usual. He’s not doing it profusely and I’ve checked in his mouth for foreign bodies, damage etc. While checking I noticed his gums were red around his erupting top canines and an erupting molar on each side so I’m thinking the drooling is teething like when babies teeth and seem to permanently drool. 🤔

Definitely drooling is common with teething. Stilton goes through phases - it’s also associated with pain /discomfort, which is definitely a factor in teething - poor babies. His back molars are fully settling at the moment and he’s drooling a bit from that (as well as having a fresh love for our kitchen table…).

@HAH @SwampDonkey Thank you I feel a lot happier getting it confirmed. I bought Hunter a Petsafe bone for chewing which crinkles like a plastic bottle a few weeks ago. Ridiculously expensive he played with it for about ten minutes. He’d rather have a real pop bottle. Today he’s been chewing on it a lot. Seems to be his new favourite so I’d say his teeth are definitely on the move.:wasntme:
