The great fireworks escape 2019 - Scotland

Last year we successfully escaped most of the fireworks over Bonfire season by taking Homer to France.

This year we are thinking of taking him to rural Scotland, hoping that we can find somewhere remote enough and that the Scottish are not as keen on bonfire fireworks as our neighbours are in London.

I don't know Scotland very well apart from ancestors coming from Perth and a castle, now a boutique hotel, south of Edinburgh.

I'll have to drive up with Homer and spend a week on my own and then hubby will come up for the following week and I'll go back to London as I'll have to get back for work.

I'd like somewhere on the shores of a loch or the coast and wifi would be important.

Any suggestions or recommendations of areas or holiday cottages will be useful.

I've never stayed in a property near a Loch and the only property on the coast had no wifi.
I know not much help but not all areas have a decent wifi, my daughter lives outside Dumfries and her wifi is slow.
We stayed in the Berriedales Caithness area and it was the land that o2 forgot.
More areas are getting 4g but there is still some that don't have a good mobile phone signal. Two places are Tangy outside Campbeltown and 30 minutes past Oban, we did have wifi in that house and the owners left an ancient mobile phone that sat on the same window for emergencies.

Most of the time my OH and I use the landmark trust none of their properties meet your criteria ( no wifi, tv,)

Have fun looking for somewhere, I love searching for places to stay ( we go away every January) just double check you have a proper phone signal and wifi.

I'm sorry I can't be more help but I will be interested to see any remote recommendations as I too look for remote.

@JES72 we had an amazing stay in the Trossachs in a little place called Brig O Turk, had a number of safe lochs on our doorsteps, Callender was a bigger town only 10 mins drive away with the most lovely generous vet I've ever met, and more forest and hill walks than you could imagine . I'm not sure if the cottage is still around, it was very small and basic but had an excellent pub and tea rooms nearby. It's also on the closer side of Scotland, close to Stirling and probably only an hour or so from the border. I'll dig out some details when I'm on a PC. There was WiFi but only a few mg.

We have also stayed in Mullach which is the sister cottage to this one
Darach
There are the two rentals and the farmhouse and they have a huge fenced paddock for exercise too.
In the middle of nowhere.
Mullach was sleep 4 (one room up very steep ladder like steps) and Darach is sleep 2 in the one bedroom.
Wifi was okay but not brilliant at the time.

Thanks, we’ll have to investigate WiFi carefully. I think with each of us staying alone with Homer for consecutive weeks it would be helpful. If we were on holiday together a WiFi free holiday would be a great idea. Slow WiFi is not a problem, our WiFi in London is notoriously slow.
