Today's foray to the Munich Airport was pretty successful. In addition to practice for Carbon, it was also a chance for me to figure exactly where the check in desk is for us (it's moved since I flew with Brogan) and also how to get to the train from the airport to Regensburg. I was also happy to see that there were plenty of elevators so at least on this side that won't be an issue.
Carbon was far from perfect, but he was darn good. Almost immediately upon entering the airport, a Bernese Mountain Dog lunged at him and he reacted. Oh joy. However they crossed our paths again and I successfully managed it. For me it was a good lesson: be alert to dogs the second I leave the car when we arrive next week.
He was also way too interested in the floor and its bounty. I feel this is going to be an ongoing Achilles Heel, even more so than the reactivity. I will need to bake up a flotilla of bratwurst to get us through the flight and the many food temptations.
He did very nicely on the train, that wasn't a surprise. He did not do so well when I took him into McDonald's for lunch. But not because of food - more because it was very very crowded and he tends to slide into a down when I tell him to sit. Normally I don't care, but in tight quarters like that and his tail at risk, he needs to hold a sit. And I need a special class in tail management; that thing is a liability!
Absolutely no looks whatsoever other than friendly ones. Completely different experience than with Brogan. People just assume Carbon is supposed to be there.
I tried a bit of photo editing for the very first time. It's kind of slapdash, but it was fun to do. Here you go!
