Poor lad, hope it isn't blocked again?
Nope, just got him out now because he got desperate enough. The wee comes out the back, out the front, out the middle. It's disturbing, but at least it comes out. It's painful for him to stand. The wee spot is only a two minute walk away normally, but he has to stop to sit every few feet to rest. Immediately back in bed once in the house and holds his head up to get the cone back on. I guess he associates it with resting. If I take it off he doesn't like it because it means I want him to go out to wee. I really hope this is better tomorrow.

These things take time. He will adapt as long as his pain is controlled. He is already adapting by weeing. Baby steps.
You're right, it just makes me so sad. He was so happy and bouncy after they drained his bladder Monday night. Logically I know that was just a temporary fix and he needed the op, but he's usually such a happy guy and seeing him like this gets me.

I am so sorry Emily, it must be heartbreaking for you to see him like that, but there is no alternative. If the stones had been bigger, then they could have been taken out of the bladder, but as smaller, they were blocking the outlet. Poor, dear Carbon, may he feel better as soon as possible.

 Emily and :thelambiesarecoming:for Carbon. I hope he’s soon more back to normal. He’s very lucky to have you and although it’s hard to juggle all the things that need sorting for him, especially in a second language, you can definitely do it. Hope you both have a good night.

I know a few motorcyclists who've only got one ball. When you have a bad tank slapper you can sometimes loose one.as a student I lived in a house with a friend who's dad had had a similar op to carbon. He got to like weeing sitting down. He had it all put back to normal once it had all healed up.

Oh Emily I am just catching up. Poor Carbon and poor you. Hopefully the op will do the trick, he will get better and be back to his normal happy self. Love and hugs to you both

It's been a long day for poor Señor Carbon. Up at 4:30 wanting a wee and then both of us kicked out of bed for the rest of the morning as I realised he'd bled during the night and all the sheets and mattress pad and cover needed urgent washing. As I'm not about to kick him out of bed overnight, both the bed and the sofa now have plastic coverings underneath washable sheets and blankets.

He's still very painful and can only walk a few steps before sitting down again. We stand and rest and wait and then I move him along as fast as possible until we have to stand and wait and rest again.

I took him to our regular vet this afternoon. She took one look at the surgical records sent over by the clinic who did the op and said:

"That is TOTAL SHIT."

She was very upset that they had left the opening in his urethra. She said it shouldn't have been done. I asked her if it could be fixed, but she said we need to get him in better shape first. His gums are pale and he clearly was in need of more pain meds, so I got sent home with more of those and we have another check with her at 7am on Monday.

She also told me to put a pair of pants (with a hole cut for his tail) and women's panty liners on him to keep the wound dry and clean. She said a couple other things about infection risk that are too revolting to pass on, but you get the drift.

I was really hoping I'd feel better about this whole "hole where his balls used to be" thing after seeing the vet, but all I feel is that my dog has been mangled. However I have to remember (1) that he is able to wee now which is the most important, (2) the stones are all out (3) it is early days after a pretty invasive surgery (4) this is all reversible and (5) Carbon will be feeling much better with more pain meds onboard.

I'm happy that our vet will be looking at him again on Monday first thing. She also said the wound (such as it is) is in quite good condition for only a couple days after the surgery. That's reassuring.

Ok, off to cut a hole in the new pants I just bought for my dog. Carbon has better pants than I do now. Of course. ;)

Thank goodness you are now seeing your Vet , she sounds like a caring person . Poor Carbon , and you too with all that washing to cope with .
I`m so pleased that you`re taking those positives on board, hard though it must be at the moment , hugs xxxxx
