The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Hi all! Thank you for the kind messages! I'm going to take over Carbon's thread as only seems capable of Spanish. 😁

Carbon and I are tucked safely away in Upper Deck, our favourite Cornwall house. Not everything is unpacked, but the bed is made, Carbon is in it, and I'll be snuggling in with him in a couple hours...totally ignoring New Year's Eve.

It was a LONG, LONG drive, but after all my increasingly desperate worrying, it went perfectly. I was worried about Brexit and potential queues in Calais: there were none, in fact I was able to get a Shuttle one hour early. I was worried about UK Border Force not letting me cross due to COVID restrictions and the new tiers: COVID wasn't even mentioned and once I confirmed that I'm a German resident, I was swiftly wished a 'happy holiday' and waved on through to Eurotunnel boarding. I was worried I'd be stopped at the border of Devon or Cornwall: I did see a few police vehicles on the road, but nothing out of the normal.

In fact, it was all a little weird: lots of traffic on the M25 and going both ways down into Cornwall. Considering the Ghost Town I just left in Germany, I felt like I'd bonked my head and had woken up in December 2021.

The weather was a bit wild but even there I was very, very lucky. @kateincornwall the only place I had heavy snow was like you said, on the moors. It was chucking down so a bit hard to see, but wasn't sticking to the road yet when I went through. Like I said: very, very lucky!

The weather for the whole drive was pretty much everything but hail: sun, sleet, rain, and snow. The TARDIS kept chugging along plus Carbon seemed to find it all VERY interesting. Usually he just sleeps, but this time, I had so much in the car that his head (on a pillow of course) was the same height as the window, and he spent a lot of time looking out.

Otherwise, I have had zero contact with anyone in the UK and now will sit out my 10 days quarantine in comfy Upper Deck. I brought my own
"Brexit/COVID" prepper stash from Germany (@Boogie would be proud) so don't even need to worry about getting in my Morrison's order for a while.

Tonight I expect to sleep like a baby. 😊
