Ugh everything is so uncertain right now, it seems. You’ve had a lot to get through the last couple months, but you’ve got through and you’re still standing! I do admire your travel planning abilities, I couldn’t deal with the stress of it all. Good idea to have a plan B, though. I've still got a few days of wild packing, and then we're off on Saturday morning. There's so much to do when you go through/move every single item you own, but if I pack well now, it will make the next six months easier, so I'm really giving it my all.

I feel the Universe will be kind and will send you a good-natured border guard.

I have to be ready to be turned away because I don't like being without a Plan B, but I certainly have high hopes. I do wish that I'd known I was going through the Netherlands - and that the country wasn't in lockdown - as I would have spent more time there. It looks like thanks to @Anne123 we're going to manage a mini-MLF-meet up: I'm very excited about that! If I'm going to be stuck 7 hours on a ferry, at least Carbon and I will have a GOOD TIME beforehand.

Nothing is changing at the UK end in terms of restrictions, so hopefully that is a good sign! Are you planning to enter UK via a ferry from the Netherlands? Getting a bit confused here!

But yes, I'm taking the ferry from the Netherlands to the UK - Harwich. Day ferry (7 hours) arriving at 8pm, having a sleep at a Holiday Inn in Colchester, then early morning off to Heathrow, then down to Cornwall. Crossing fingers as write it, but that's the plan.

I'm not too worried about new restrictions coming in between now and then. It's looking positive, plus I came in last year when the UK was in heavy duty lockdown but the type of travel I was doing was still allowed. My concern is post-Brexit view of a border agent given how my passport looks, ie. regular long visits to the UK.

But nothing I can do about that, it will be down to the luck of the draw...as @MellowYellow said, let's hope for a good-natured border guard!

Hola amigos! After a drive of seven hours where I did not eat anything and nearly expired from starvation, ML and I are now stopped for the night near the Dutch border. Tomorrow we will play on the beach and then take the big boat if we are very lucky!

ML says this is my Deer in the Headlights look, but I say “Oh Dios mio I am so tired and you want me to model???” Pfft!

We are in Goch, a tiny village in Germany near the Dutch border. It's very dark out there but there must be a village church because the bells are VERY loud. Otherwise, no idea what it's like!

Carbon says: "It has very lovely grass to poo on and a beautiful tree to wee in, plus the hotel manager gave me a dozen cookies. I like it here!"
