The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Hola todoooos! I am back to say to you that Mama Lady and I are off on another adventure. We left our Little House in The Land of the Best Walks ever this morning and now we are on the long road back to The Land of Pretzels. ML says because she is un-em-ployed (a muy fancy way of saying she gets to spend all her time with yours truly) that we can take the long way back and have some big adventures...que bien!

Today I met two new amigos: Labrador amigo Kipper and human amiga @HAH . Ooo, dos amores nuevos, two new loves because they are both the best! Kipper and I share a connoisseur's love of cow poo which has just the right age and texture - que rico! - and he taught me a new move of grabbing your opponents front leg when fighting. I cannot WAIT to try this out on Bramble. She will think I am lo mas inteligente, the smartest dog ever and finally fall madly in love with me. Muchas gracias, Kipper.

Kipper's human is also wonderful - que bonita! She shared delicious fish treats with me and then at the end of the walk she gave me a new red bandana and LOTS of gentle pets. ML got some special Devon apply drink and hugs. Personally I would have preferred special Devon SAUSAGES, but I think that ML likes the apply drink more than sausages, so I am happy for her. After all, not everyone can have the exquisite taste of a Spanish Gentleman Dog.

She is a very elegant and kind human, this Kipper's human. I have told ML that Kipper and her human have to come visit us in the Big House in the Land of Best Walks. Muy divertido! Lots of fun!

Aces photos Signor, your ML has many gifts and her skill with the pointy click box is definitely one of them :D

I’ve never felt softer fur or had my ear tickles so graciously received. You truly are a gentleman dog and I’m a BIG fan . So pleased to have made your acquaintance x

Gah! What a day! Carbon and I drove 320 kilometres in EIGHT HOURS.

EIGHT HOURS. :headbang:

There were road works. There were ambulances. There was rush hour traffic (two hours to get across Portsmouth). There was a mal functioning railway crossing.

We also stopped in lovely Lyme Regis and slightly less lovely Portland. Carbon can tell you about those when he gets out of his travel coma.

I was relieved to arrive in Newhaven a couple hours ago. However, the (mis)adventure continued with our Airbnb cottage. "On site" parking turned into street parking which was hard to come by. The street is a bit dodgy so I'm hoping my car windows are intact come morning. The cottage is clearly the main dwelling of the owners. There's not a single hanger or drawer that's not already taken. The kitchen has a light sheen of grease. The trash bins are already full. I'm pretty sure the sheets have been previously slept in (good thing I have my own). There was a glob of lubricant on the night stand. And the piece de resistance was the grass in the back garden accented with cat poo. Carbon LOVES cat poo, so after an eight hour drive I picked up several bags of poo so he wouldn't down the stuff.

Ew. Ew. Ew. :puke:

I will not be giving this place my normal obsessive clean upon leaving. I don't care if they give me a bad review...

...if they try it, I'll blackmail them with poo photos.

Tomorrow will be a better day - meeting up with @Joy and my old friend from Cannes. :sun:

I only liked it because you have such a wonderful skill at describing things. But eeeww eewww eeewwweee!!! Glob of lubricant on the nightstand????

Things can only get better!!

Glob of lubricant on the nightstand????
Sorry, that was probably TMI. I guess it COULD have been a bit of odourless hair gel? My brain just went in the other direction because I had a holiday rental in Paris once where let's just say that personal lubrication was quite the decorative theme (as were mirrors...on the ceiling). After such an experience, I'm good at recognising it. The useless life skills I have... :D

how long are you staying at the cottage?
Only three nights. We're off bright and early Monday to the Eurotunnel.

Hope you have had a good night despite all that?
Yes, actually - thanks. Feeling much better this morning. It's fine for a short stay and goodness knows I've stayed in MUCH worse (see above). I could tell by the listing that the owners lived here but there was only one other option and it was a further 30 minutes' drive away so I took this one. Probably should have just sucked it up and driven further. ;)

You do find some interesting places! I hope your car is still in one piece! ‘Only’ three nights sounds a bit daunting. Is there any sign of the cats responsible for the poo? I hope Carbon doesn’t have to share the garden with them!
