Today Mimi, Carbon and I went to a big sporting goods store that has a ferris wheel and huge floor to ceiling fish tanks. Carbon cracked me up by doing "LAT" with the groups of exotic fish swimming by. I dropped "see the puppy" long ago, but I was dying to say, "See the GUPPY". Sorry, dog humour.
Also loved that he just lay by my bag as I ran around the coat department while Mimi and I tried on stuff. Staff and other shoppers came up to him a couple times but he just stayed there, albeit with his ever-thumping tail. An excellent shopper, our Señor Handsome.
Also two big surprises. First he stood in front of the escalator and looked like he was dying to get on. Even looked at me with that begging face he uses when he wants to jump on the sofa. The last time we did any escalator work was in December! Time to get cracking as clearly he's ready to learn.
Second surprise was standing to wait to pay for our purchases. There were Germans (in Reno!) in front of us and Carbon stared and the men and drooled - just like he does with the antiques man who feeds him treats at home! I guess it's time I eat my hat for saying last year that I didn't think he'd ever grasp language. He's not only grasped it but can differentiate WHICH language apparently!
Shopping trip was followed by Mexican dinner where I ordered a Coke as a treat. I completely forgot the mammoth sizes offered up in the US and then sat there and sipped my way to the bottom even though I knew better. All that has zero to do with Carbon, only an explanation of why I'm totally wired and online at 1am.
Tomorrow morning we leave Mimi's wonderful oasis in the desert and drive back down to crazy-town California. Looking forward to spending another week with my father but not SF Bay Area madness.
Now I think I need to sneak down to the kitchen and maybe get a sleep aid.
