With that waggily tail (oh how I love it!), what happens when you go into confined spaces? Like a shop with display shelves. Of breakable glass objet d’art?
Not that he isn't happy at other times, but the amount of waggilyness :giggl: is definitely higher when we're training. In shops the bigger problem is his nose, as he tends to want to sniff everything, and just generally keeping him out of the way of other shoppers in tight spaces. In Regensburg we do a lot of popping into the main department store during quiet times and weaving in and out of the displays to get him used to following me closely.

Year before last when I took him to Italy, we went into my favourite ceramics shop where I've been going for years - they knew Brogan well. That was tricker because it's so small and everything is breakable. I tried to have him just lie down but everything was very new then and not only did he keep popping up, but I wasn't used to that tail and found keeping track of both ends of the dog to be...problematic. :wasntme: But we did make it out with zero breakage, so "Yay, us!".

The tail is a bigger problem on public transport, including the airplane. I'm getting better now, but keeping that thing safe and contained is a full-time job. If we have an aisle seat, like we do this Sunday, it's 12 hours of 'watch the tail' and no nodding off for me. While there were many disadvantages to having a dog with a cropped tail like Brogan's, one big advantage is not having to constantly play "Contain the Tail". Our SD trainer assures me that we can train Carbon to tuck in his tail, but I'll believe that when I see it!

And a flea as a toy—now there’s something I’ve not heard of before!! :)
I went in to buy a bat for him. Ever since I got one for puppy Reuben, he eyes them up when we go into the store. Then the young woman working in the store said, "Oh yes, the bat and the flea are our most popular toys!". And of course I had to ask: "The FLEA?!". She went over to a little box near the floor with a bunch of greenish Muppety-looking things with antenna and six legs. Carbon immediately trotted over and picked out his own flea. That's just how he picked out Monkey, so how could I say "No"?

Of course I had to get a bat, too...but we'll save him for Spain. :D
