I'm a resident of Germany and therefore I have a "compelling reason" to travel. Of course anything can happen at the border as the border control personnel are like kings of their own fiefdom, but it should be fine. I'm more worried about the new requirement to have a PCR test within 48 hours, which is nearly impossible as everyone is geared toward 72 hours. If I have an issue, that's going to be it.

There was a 7 day quarantine in place before the rules changed, so in fact nothing really changed in that regard. France "quarantine" is currently unsupervised, at a location of your choosing and you are permitted to go out wherever you want for 2 hours a day. So it won't be bad at all.

This isn't new - they announced it last Wednesday, but it goes into effect today so it has been in the news again.

In any case, I will have more problems on my hands if I tried to stay in the UK because my allotted time runs out at the end of June. I don't have much of a choice but to get out any direction I can so that the Home Office doesn't cart me away and put a 10 year ban on me. As I'd like to return next year, I'm being very careful to not let that happen. :)

Or fear of getting kidnapped by the Border Force in this case. I got nabbed once at Heathrow when I was 21 years old - they kept me for four hours, made me sign papers consenting to a strip search (though thankfully it was a just a threat) and kept questioning me over and over and over. I'd gone from London to visit friends that I'd babysat for who had moved to Germany. We ate schnitzel and I made snowmen with their five year old daughter, but the border guards were convinced that I'd gone to Munich to traffic drugs into the UK - why else would anyone go to Germany for three days in winter? 🙈 No idea to this day why they singled me out. When I was 21, I looked about 16, so I wasn't some sophisticated femme fatale.

It made a big impression so now I always tread very cautiously anytime I have to cross the border. Gives me the willies! 😬

Oh sí, sí, it is all about ML when this is supposed to be MY thread! I am a very patient Spanish gentleman but still, let us bring it back to my adorable Labrador self, vale?

Guess what I am doing? Vamos, go ahead, guess! I am doing what ML calls the "17 Days of Surfing Challenge". This means that we go out every morning and SURF at the beach. Today was our fourth day. Every day the sea is a little different and I have new challenges of different people or dogs that I greet (or not) and ML practices her recall. I think she is learning muchas cosas, many things!

Did you know it is almost time to go back to Germany? I love Regensburg because there are beautiful pretzels everywhere on the ground to discover. Also because friends like @Boogie come to visit!

Hola todos! Today is very boring, muy aburrido, because ML is working and then getting stuck in the arm like a pin cushion. I did not even get my surfing this morning, though I have high hopes for this evening. So that you do not perish from lack of my own special adorableness, I give you two photos of my muy guapo self last October in Brittany. ML says she was looking at them to get excited about going back to France. I think she was looking at them because she is procrastinating doing her work. Pfft!

I DID get to go surfing! Evening surfing! There were SO many people and dogs there. ML did not even get mad when I ran to meet some new Labrador friends. She said, "Carbon, no one could resist so much temptation - youareaverygoodboy!"

ML had her pin cushion poke today, so she said we have to see about surfing tomorrow morning. Pero bueno, I think she can do it. I am doing all the work, after all: she only has to throw the ball with her non-pokey arm, de verdad?
