The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Those stairs… well, at least there’s a handrail!!

Snowie has no issue with any kind of stairs. But he must be bribed, I mean lured! up the stairs for his bath. We’ve discovered a treat on every second step does the trick! He won’t come when lured with the treat in hand. But nose to step and he forgets it’s bath time.

Hola amigos! The Señor is back! Just a leeeetle note now before we go to run some errands and later meet up with Señorita Maja, who will probably try to eat my face. It is soooo caliente and hot that I may let her do it. Who has the energy, no?

But this morning very very early, we did some exploring. Which is why ML picked that leeetle apartment with scary cats and chickens and stairs. Pfft! She needs to pick better.

Where was I? Oh, si! We went to Ötisheim, a tiny village about 4 hours from Regensburg. This leeeetle pueblo is where Cookie Man’s grandfather was born and lived before he and his wife (who had the same first and last name as ML) emigrated to the US.

Because Cookie Man (aka ML’s father) at 86 does not like flying, we filmed a virtual visit for him. I will try to share more later, but to start, here I am doing my best modelling in front of Ötisheim’s many old buildings. It is easy to imagine that not much has changed since ML’s family left to be farmers in St Louis.

Does having German heritage help your immigration application?
That would be a big NOPE. 🤪

There are many false sources online - especially after Trump’s election - saying that Germany will give Americans residency if you have German heritage. This is only true with a German parent or in rare cases grandparent. Germany also has a special program for descendants of citizens who were forced to leave due to persecution (ie the Holocaust).

The truth is for most immigrants, it’s a long and expensive slog. I guess they want to be sure you are properly motivated! 😉

Amigos, we are on the move! It is a mixing day for me as it is very hot and for the first time in my life, I have a tummy that is not happy. It is all very liquidy back there - I did not even know that was possible!

On the other hand (or paw), when we leave the TARDIS and go to the train station with a big bag, that means a visit to Cookie Man! Que bien! California here we come.

Carbón has passed out after two small bowels of watery oatmeal mixed with a powder to firm him up. He is VERY gassy! Let’s hope he blows all is wind tonight and tomorrow is breeze-free. 😉

When it gets cooler tonight I’ll also take him for a good walk to get everything moving.

We’re near the airport tonight at a room in someone’s house. I’ve never done this type of Airbnb. The host is very nice and she has a Bernese Mountain Dog x Golden Retriever cross who is huge and cuddly.

I’ll be glad to get on the airplane tomorrow. At least it’s air conditioned and I don’t have to drive. 😆
