The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

What a relief! I only saw your new update now, read from start to finish with my heart in my mouth. So so so pleased it was all over with with only one tooth gone. Poor Carbon, he’s had his fair share of health issues. And yet he is the most joyful of dogs. And in great health nevertheless. And living The Best Life. Thanks to you. ❤

Truer words. He has had more than his share of health issues and yet hardly ever shows any symptoms and the tail never stops wagging. I’m very lucky. ❤

His sutures for his now-absent tooth are healing nicely and his jaw seems less painful. I only gave him pain meds the first day as the wobbly effects seemed to bother him more than the mouth pain. I got a very pitiful face after I dosed him. I don’t think he appreciates being drugged up!

Hi Cath, he’s doing great, thank you! 🥰 He’s got dissolvable stitches where his tooth was but it all looks nice and healthy. Beyond the first couple days he wasn’t bothered in the slightest. I’m very proud of him - he’s a tough little nut!

We’re having a mini adventure this weekend going up to Reno by way of San Francisco, so more swimming and hopefully some new photos to share. Carbón will update you as I’m sure he's been missing telling his own story. 😉

Hola amigos! It has been way too long, and to that I say “Pfft!”. I have had many adventures in the last two months here in California. Mainly they are adventures in having Breakfasts 2-3, Lunch 1-3, and Dinner 1-4, all of which ML says are not interesting enough for you to read about.

She also says as a result of Cookie Man (ML’s father) feeding me all these extra meals and no daily Cornwall swimmy swims, I have gone from my normal 25 kg to 28 kg and am now officially ‘chonky’. When I had my tooth surgery they weighed me and ML was not happy, qué mal! Personally, I think the doctor’s scale lied. I am my best weight ever!

Despite ML’s threats, Cookie Man defends my right to daily cereal with milk, popcorn, cookies, crisps, etc. He is lo mejor, the best! She provides him with oranges and apples for me, so it is not ALL ‘complete junk’ (ML’s words as I do not feel it is junk at all). Because ML believes I need ‘good nutrition’ I still get all my veggies and protein from her. Ojalá, it is really the best of all possible worlds around here.

ML says I will have a ‘rude awakening’ when we go back to Germany soon. Whatever could she mean?

Pues…anyway…I wanted to share our San Francisco adventure yesterday. We went through the magical rainbow Robin Williams tunnel after the big orange bridge over the Bay, and came out in Marin. The Golden Gate National Recreation Area used to be a military base in the 1800’s but now the pretty old buildings are for visitors and the beaches and trails are for the dogs. Qué bien!

Rodeo Beach and its coastal path were the favorite destination of my esteemed predecessors, Brogan and his Mama Jodhi. When I saw it yesterday, I could have sworn we were back in Cornwall in January. No wonder she loves it there so much! Even the weather was Cornish: 28C in San Jose (Cookie Man land) but 14C in Marin.

So here is our leeeeetle time travel visit to almost Cornwall in almost January…in Marin in August!

Carbon, Snowie will tell you that scales at different vet practices are different! They can be a kilo or two different! Yes! It is true! (It actually is. I guess they’re calibrated differently. Snowie weighed 1 kilo less (or more, depending on how you wanted to view it!) between our regular vet and the specialist hospital. Both electronic scales.)

And in your case, they are scales in different countries. Pounds and kilos. Carbon, it sounds like you might have a case for more cereal with milk, crisps, etc!

I always think of Marin bicycles 🚲 when I see the word Marin. When my son was young he absolutely loved Marin bikes and he eventually got one (I think he still has it). It took me a while for the penny to drop that they came (originally) from Marin County the other side of San Francisco Bay
(sorry Carbón - not a useful bit of information for you 😉)
