The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Today I had a nice rest this morning while ML dealt with immigration in Germany and her house falling apart (yet again) in California. Did you know that middle names do not legally exist in Germany? So if you want to become a German citizen and want to keep your middle name - necessary for legal document reasons - you have to petition to turn your middle name in second but equal first name?

No, amigos, I do not understand any of what I just said either. I am just a humble Spanish Señor with only ONE name. Like Cher. All us legends only need one name.

Mmmm, where was I? Oh sí, today’s explorations. Pues, after ML lost her mind just a leeeeetle, we went to San Gimignano, which is the Regensburg of Italy. Pues, technically they say that Regensburg is the San Gimignano of Germany, but you say potato and I say papas, no?

Both cities have a lot of really tall towers that rich people built to show how rich they are. And guess what we found? The symbol of the city of Regensburg, two crossed keys, on the main gate of San Gimignano!

It is a hilltop town, which means some bonito scenery. IMG_0456.jpeg

And of course lots of towers and lots of me. The lots of me is my favourite part, but the towers are also quite guapo.

There may also be a mailbox. What is ML’s obsession with mailboxes about? Did she not get enough Christmas cards as a child? Que lastima!

That last one keeels me - could I be any more adorable, de verdad?

I am so impressed that mostly no other humans in your interesting photographs, just a very handsome Carbon. The door knockers are fascinating.

How strange that middle names are not allowed, but two first ones are! Even though they are first and second 😄

It’s much quieter out here in the Tuscan countryside. But in Florence it was bonkers. I took some uncharacteristic (for me) crowd photos with you in mind. 😉

Ah, but in Germany - as it was explained to me - the multiple first names are NOT first and second, but equal. For example, if I was Jane Sally Smith in Germany, I could legally be called Jane Sally Smith, Jane Smith, or Sally Smith.

I know, who cares, right? Just part of the weird world of things you have to work through as an immigrant. 😬

Ooooh amigos! It has been a busy week and my leeetle paws are tired! Vale, Monday we stayed home and ML did laundry and the dreaded ‘paperwork’, but Tuesday we were back in Florence. I climbed a hill and played with a couple senior lady maremma shepherds in a pine forest.

Weeee, I had super zoomies! Then oooof, I was so sore.

Amigos, getting old is not so bueno. Pfft!

Pues, then we visited Amiga Cecilia one last time and then we sat on the train for a veeeery long time while I missed my dinner. Que mal! But then I had dinner. Que bien!

Yesterday and today, ML is back to working on taxes and packing for Venice, with some afternoon trips to stretch our legs. There is so much to see around our leeetle village! And so much to wee on!

I have learned a new Italian phrase because ML says it so much: Non facciamo pipì nel centro storico, Carbón! Non si fa!” No weeing on the historical town, Carbón! Amigos, EVERYTHING is historical in Tuscany. Nombre de Dios, where is a Señor supposed to wee?

Here are a few photos, hopefully more later if my editor gets a move on. Vamanos!

Pee ess. ML has told me that I must confess eating loads of (frankly deleeeeeecious) poo in the pine forest and then vomiting up my dinner (multiple times) yesterday.

And what of it? Any touristical connoisseur worth their salt partakes of the local food culture. For me, poo is food. A food that I so cleverly found in a Florence pine forest is ‘fresh locally sourced’ ingredients, no? I am just a canine foodie!

No comment on the vomiting though - that WAS a leeetle ick, de verdad.
