The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Carbon and I had a lovely day with Kate, Paul, Reuben and Nelly. The two boys played tug and epic bitey-face while we had a posh lunch.

Then we went to a local lake with a dog free run area where all three pups had their own kind of fun. Nelly mainly sticking close to Mum but Reuben and Carbon snuffling among the bluebells and having a few short zoomies.

Afterwards Carbon and I hit up the big pet store near Kate's as there's nothing like that on 'our' side of Cornwall. Carbon trotted around politely greeting a few dogs, which redeemed him (somewhat) for getting grumpy with a couple dogs earlier in the day. Hey, if he was too perfect it would be weird, right? :sneaky:

The payment experience was especially wondrous as someone had dropped a bunch of those little dried fish on the floor in front of the till. I didn't even try to tell him 'leave it'. In fact, I said, "knock yourself out". After all, it's not every day that the sea heaves up its copious bounty on the floor of a Pets at Home. Even a Spanish gentleman dog shouldn't be expected to resist!

Reuben and Carbon zoooooomieeees!

Reuben looks like he's starting to fill out now, become a little less puppy-looking.
I know Kate rolls her eyes when I say this, but he's really a very elegant-looking dog. He changes nearly every time I see him: when I first got here about three months ago, Reub's head looked almost more like a greyhound than a Lab. Nothing wrong with that (I love greyhounds) but now he's grown into his noble nose and you just see a very striking Labrador. Maybe one who has still got a case of goofy baby brain - he's only 8 months old after all - but a noble and gorgeous beastie!

Reuben was absolutely shattered when we got home , zonked out for hours ! Those zoomies are something else , lovely to see two pals having fun whilst little Nelly pottered around . We would have stayed a little longer but Nelly started her reverse sneezing again , and got a little distressed about it so we headed back to the car . To be honest, I think both boys had run enough by then, only they didnt think so ! xx

Hola todoooos! Hello everyone! Mama Lady and I went to a place called Port Isaac today. It is only a little up the road from our house. ML took lots of photos but not nearly enough of me. So many boring photos of buildings. Que lastima! What a shame! She says I make my Señor Grumpypantalones face every time she points the camera at me. This is not true. I am simply doing my best 'smouldering Spanish gentleman' face. Que guapo, how handsome, no? Why does she not like my modelling face? Especially as por supuesto, of course, I am doing it all for her.

ML was a little sneaky because she took a couple photos of me when I did not realise. Can you tell the difference between my modelling face and my SURPRISE! face in the photos below?

The best thing about today for me was that I discovered a place in front of an ice cream shop where they set out a whole pot of melted mint ice cream JUST FOR ME. Que rico! How delicious! Como? What was that? ML says that was NOT for me and that she only let me eat it because she was distracted taking photos. Pfft! How does she know it was not for me? I say it was for me and I ate it, so I must be right!

The best thing about today for ML was that I did not shout at a single dog in the three hours we were walking together. ML says I can do all the Señor Grumpypantalones faces I want and she'll let a TINY bit of ice cream gobbling pass because I was such Good Boy. That's really all that matters, no?

Here I am posing with all of Port Issac behind me.

Here is a fish. No one cares about a fish. Unless it is a fish you can eat...then I care about it very much.

SURPRISE! face...she is so sneaky with the camera sometimes.
P1140211.jpg

Here I had time to pose. Am I not so handsome when I make my serious face?
P1140224.jpg

Here is the port from way up high.

And some crazy ladies swimming. It is even too cold for me to swim, and I have fur!

A handsome Spanish gentleman dog in a Cornish village...what could be better?

Boring scenery shot. Pfft! Next!
P1140277.jpg

Oh no! Another SURPRISE! photo. How did she catch me not posing?!
P1140186.jpg

Ah, this one is MUCH better. A true serious modelling pose. Could someone tell ML to not make me wear that Day of the Dead bandana, though? Those flowers are destroying my gravitas.

Eso es todo, mis amigos! That's all, my friends! I'm a very tired Good Boy and am off to bed. We supermodels have to get our beauty rest.

Buenas noches! :sleepy:

Thanks, Helen...this has really become my favourite place on the planet!
Whoop whoop!!! :celebrate: Cornwall clearly likes you very much too, you seem to fit in as well as any 10th generationer pulled from a Spanish wreck*
*(I read years ago that there’s a lot of Spanish heritage in coastal villages round Cornwall from trading and the odd shipwreck :))
