Throwing up -a lot

What a relief after so much worry, hope everything goes well from now on. Rourke was sick last night and 'gulping' all evening, will take him to the vet today.
Oh dear, hope Rourke is feeling better in no time!

Methinks you know me too well :D

Pusscat does that most mornings, I usually correct it!
I’m glad you didn’t correct it 😆

Good news! Is there anything to help acid reflux in dog?
Yes, apparently it is ‘easy enough to manage’. I’m assuming meds and diet change. I really am hoping that smaller meals a day will do the trick though🤞

How is Rourke?
Thanks all for asking. Vet thinks it is reaction to Previcox, he seems to be able to take anti-inflammatories for about 20 days, then he reacts adversely to them, it was the same with Metacam. I think the one you recommended @Kate is the same as Previcox. So life is going to be very difficult for him if he cannot take them.

Yes you can and I have. Rory can't take any due to his colitis. It's a worry for his future for his life. PPI seem to help for a while then fail. I can't take them either constant usage seem slowly damage the stomach even if you use PPI then you have a spectacular failure. I do wonder if injecting is a better option? You bypass the stomach but I wonder if the drugs cause problems anyway? Its something I'm going to have to sort out for Rory.

PPI give me terrible stomach ache, my GP was pleased to learn that 'cos it gave him a bad stomach as well! I am on a different one now. The vet did give Rourke Omeprazole but it did't really suit him. Vet did suggest Gabapentin, but that has weird effects in humans (some). My last dog, had one Gapentin and was constantly sick for two days after that and then put down.

@snowbunny, sorry to read that Rory has colitis, hope you can find something that helps for the future.

Gabapentin is ok but does have some side effects but it can really work. Anything is worth a try there are other drugs too like onsior etc. For one dog I used a combination of onsior and tramadol. It worked well and the dog was pain free able to enjoy his life for a little longer.

Axel looks rather sad, but it was worth getting the scan done to rule out anything nasty. I hope he’s well again soon.

@Jelinga I hope you find a solution for Rourke. Side effects can vary so much.
