Next adventure coming up! GGJ is going camping for the first time!

We're setting off on Friday with my friends Karen, who I went to Istanbul with and Dave, her husband, also of course Lucy, their Patterdale. They have a mobile home so they say they can fit all my gear in that as well as Joy and myself

. We'll be staying on a farm near North Allerton, in NorthYorkshire and it's what's known as a Wild Festival. I think the idea is that the camping is 'wild' (i.e. no showers) rather than the festival itself. Karen and Dave went to several of these last year and loved them. Very family and dog friendly apparently, a group of like minded pleasant and friendly folk, live music, no illegal substances allowed and a limited number of tickets available so there aren't too many people. It costs 30 pounds payable in advance for the two days of festival and five pounds a night to camp, which seems very reasonable. Pirate themed fancy dress is optional. Not sure if I'll enjoy it or not, but nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that! I'll have a good time with Karen and Dave anyway, it's only for two days and if I don't like it I don't have to go again. I'm quite excited about it and have spent the day sorting out the camping gear that hasn't been used for nearly three years and writing lists. I'm really looking forward to sleeping in the tent again and especially to introducing Joy to the joys of camping. Just lately she's started to be a lot more confident around new people and she clearly absolutely loves children so I suspect she's going to have a wonderful time!
