Here we are in Pear Tree Cottage, a converted barn/outbuilding of some sort just outside Stokesley, North Yorkshire and we're having a lovely time. The cottage has enclosed gardens front and back, so it's safe for GGJ to wander in and out as she pleases. Yesterday we did a circular walk from Osmotherly, taking in part of the Cleveland Way and part of the Coast to Coast path. The views were beautiful and the weather was perfect for walking. 20210912_104400.jpg20210912_105636.jpgToday we have been to Runswick Bay, which is very pretty and now I have yet more pictures of Joy in the sea20210913_104621.jpg20210913_110015.jpgWhen I told Little Brother that I wanted a photo of a big wave I didn't mean this 20210913_111917.jpgI meant this!

We've been so lucky with the weather today! I'll try to post some more photos..... no, sorry, they're downloading at a rate of about 4% every five minutes, so they're going to have to wait!
Let's see if it's any better now we're in the car.
Here is Joy waiting for us to get our boots on yesterday 20210915_102407.jpgIn the sea again 20210915_103955.jpgA beautiful day at Saltburn 20210915_113749.jpg'Well, throw it then!'20210915_113829.jpgFirst ever icecream!20210915_121605.jpgSoooo sleepy 20210915_123226.jpgWarm enough for lunch in the garden :sun:20210915_134744.jpg

There's a nice empty field very near the cottage we're staying in where I've been taking GGJ for a few games every evening before we sit down to eat. Yesterday when we got back I noticed that she was rubbing her left eye a lot and thought maybe she'd got something in it while she was searching in the bushes for her ball, so I bathed it with cooled boiled water and kept an eye on her. She was her usual self and didn't seem unduly bothered by it. However thismorning her eye was stuck closed and she was not her usual self, quite subdued for a GGJ on a holiday morning, so I rang the local vet and was pleased to be given a 10.30 appointment. The vet was lovely, she said Joy was a perfect weight and clearly a very fit and active dog.
She has a small superficial ulcer to her cornea which the vet said would be consistent with something poking her in the eye yesterday and has been given pain relief and two kinds of eye drops, one an antibiotic and one to encourage her cornea to heal. We had planned a final trip to the seaside today, but the vet said only if she stayed out of the sea, so instead we walked up to Captain Cook's monument, which was a lovely walk with amazing views (photos to follow when I have a better internet connection) Joy is more lively again already and giving me the Teatime stare, so it seems that all is well with her world again!
