Tuppy at the vets

On Monday afternoon I took Tuppy for her second appointment to see the nurse. At our previous appointment, the nurse suggested trying Zylkene tablets and Adaptil spray, so I gave Tuppy one Zylkene tablet that morning and sprayed her harness with Adaptil before we went. This time I took her favourite ball too. She was still a quivering wreck, but enjoyed a few treats and played with her ball, although not as enthusiastically as she does at home.

I asked the nurse to check the lump I’ve found on Tuppy’s shoulder and also another one on the other shoulder that my daughter-in-law had found the previous day. The nurse also found two more, one on her tummy and one on her side, so she called in one of the vets to check them. Tuppy stood reasonably still while he found the lumps. He thinks they’re probably fatty lumps, but the one my daughter-in-law had found was slightly different. Eventually, after discussing it further with the nurse, she went to see the vet again and he came back to take a sample of the different lump. I didn’t expect Tuppy to co-operate, but she was really good as the nurse and I held her while the vet used the syringe to take the sample, not just sticking the needle straight in as I had expected, but moving it around within the lump - and repeating it about three times!

There’s been no phone call from the vet yet, but I’m relieved that the vet was able to take the sample and Tuppy seems unfazed by it.

Tuppy did fantastically @Granca. All of my previous dogs have had fatty lumps of various types and sizes. Murphy had a lump that suddenly grew and burst. It was removed but that was still just a fatty lump when it was tested it had just become infected probably due to a grass seed the vet said. Fingers crossed all will be well :fingers:

Well done, Tuppy! And hopefully the lumps are nothing.

Snowie was also at the vet the other day, also needle biopsies, and also the digging around, first time I’ve seen this action. It looked really painful to me, but Snowie just wagged his tail. I often wonder if his tail wagging is just appeasement behaviour.
