Vet tomorrow I think.

Set off with Joy for the morning walk and after about ten minutes she did the lying on her back with her paws in the air thing again. I'm more worried this time. On Monday it was the third time in three years and she wasn't limping. Today it's the second time in six days and there was a definite dipping motion when she put weight on her left front leg, which is what seemed to be bothering her last time she was limping ( not counting the cut back paw this time last year!)
I managed to get her home, carrying her part of the way, which she doesn't like much but it was pouring with rain by then and she wasn't for moving. She seems perfectly happy now we're home but I really think it's time for an Xray. Last time the vet said that if it kept happening that would be the way to go. I've also realized that it never happens in the warmer weather, only in the Autumn and Winter, so I'm wondering if it's something that's exacerbated by cold and damp.
Poor little girl!

She wanted ball games in the garden thisafternoon but I didn't think it was a good idea for her to be chasing a ball so we tried a short on lead walk instead which she flatly refused, lying down as soon as we were through the gate. Earlier on I had soaked some of her tea time kibble in water and put it into her lick mat, then in the freezer, so she had this in the garden, a small amount in her bowl, some more in her Kong Wobbler and will have the rest in a frozen Kong when I have my Sunday evening whine. So far it's taken her 45 minutes to eat her tea and now she's sighing heavily at me, wanting me to go for my shower and light the stove because then it's Kong Time. Just off to follow orders!

Is it possible that something has scared her outside? Does she look happy in the house, quite lively?

Good that you are taking her to vet tomorrow, but I can understand how worrying it is for you. Rourke was lame on his front leg for 18 months and despite investigations etc it didn't get better until I suggested cortisone and then the vet put the dose up too high, I have tailored it to the lowest dose possible and he is fine up to this moment. So try not to worry, there is a solution to everything x

I've thought about this myself. I don't think it's due to anything that has frightened her outside, although she's such a cautious little girl that it was a possibility. However, she usually sets out full of enthusiasm (apart from thisafternoon) and on the whole it's been on the way home that the problems start (apart from the last couple of times when we were outward bound) It's been so variable up to now that I did wonder if something had scared her but I really think from her behaviour now that she's in pain. A couple of times today in the house she has come to me and laid down at my feet. She seems to enjoy it when I gently rub/ massage her left front paw, licking my hand and wagging as if she's saying 'Yes! That's it'.
Hopefully we'll find out soon.
