Xena gets the odd bath when OH gets a bee in his bonnet about her smell. I don't mind it, it's not a regular thing and she smells of lavender afterwards, it's lovely! Her last bath was after her mystery roll, but that's the first and only time that has happened!

Brogan (Rottie) used to get weekly baths. Carbon has only gotten one bath, doctor's orders, after he had his worm incident a couple months ago in Italy.

I did notice when bathing Carbon that the water never ran mucky like it used to with Brogan. Carbon just seems to have slick fur that stays clean. Brogan used to need a couple suds/rinces before the water ran clear off him. Brogan wasn't a roller nor did he get into mud but he'd somehow get dirty. Carbon seems to be magically self cleaning except for the Brie cheesiness episode the summer. Just different kinds of dogs, I guess!

Kipper only gets a bath if he’s rolled in something REALLY stinky, once in a blue moon (there’s tempting fate...). He’s developed a very faint muskyness which you only get if you bury your face in his neck when putting on his harness - weirdos :D

I've selected every 3 months because Molly also has Malaseb and we've been told to use it more often. The pain with this stuff is having to leave it on for 10 mins though, Molly does her best to lick it off :speaktothehand:
We tend to use it only when she's going through an itchy stage, so she could go almost a year without being washed.
I've never washed any of our dogs as a matter of course, only really washed them when they been 'enjoying' a fox poo sauna.

I really don't bath Fred and Annie, but I do have to wash Annie's legs after every walk with Malaseb. I hope it will only be for the months of September until March. Its seems to be working though, so fingers crossed :fingers:

I wonder if it’s the Lab coat? Nothing penetrates Snowie’s fur even if he’s filthy dirty from mud. A quick in-out in the pond and he’s as good as new.

Harley hates the hosepipe, but loves the shower. I tend to pop her in the shower with me if she’s really muddy, but usually just rinse her off. I have used shampoo about 3 times since we got her (over 5 years ago). I’m really lucky that she doesn’t roll in anything ☺ (Yet!)

I think Labs in general have pretty Teflon coats.
@Heidrun do you clip your spaniels’ coats yourself, or take them to the groomers?
Only the two springers Alice and Caddie go to the groomers. Their coats have changed since they were spayed and they need clipping otherwise they would get too woolly. The other three have very different coat texture and I just give the feathers on their legs a little tidy up every so often. But otherwise I leave their coats well alone apart from brushing.

That's interesting. Is there a difference between coats of working and show cockers like there often is with Labs? My sister has a show-line cocker (entire male) and if he isn't clipped he gets enormous! I always thought that cockers needed clipping or they would grow and grow - a bit like a sheep :cwl:

Murffi has never been to the groomers in his life, he is eight now. I just brush him and that’s it.

Oh Murffi is the most gorgeous dog, he's so good looking and so beautifully chocolatety, that's two spaniels I'm in love with, something I never thought I would say. My other love is my daughters Cocker spaniel, a beautiful looking but has the heart of an angel spaniel, Max.
