The highway between Wollongong and Sydney is closed, thankfully heading South, not North, so hopefully you will make it home. There are cars submerged in floodwaters all over the Illawarra and Shoalhaven and we had the most diabolical rain today. Around 150mm since 2.00am but yes nothing compared to the South Coast. The train line between Waterfall and Wollongong/Kiama is also closed so my friend who lives in Fairy Meadow but works one day per week in town is staying with a friend.

Maxx looked out a couple of times and decided he REALLY didn't need to pee that badly

In utter and complete contrast, today is hot, sunny and beautiful! I'm so glad because my dear friend Sue is coming up from Wollongong on the train to spend the arvo in the pool with us (I'm only working part-time this week considering I'm not getting paid yet!). Her hubby has a gig tonight and will come up for a nice lunch tomorrow and a swim before heading home

This morning I'm hoping for a few hours of blowy wind with no rain! I'm hoping to get the towels dry on the line. I hate the winter when they have to either go in the drier or over the radiators. We've either been having wind and rain or sun and no wind, but not enough hours for them to dry.
I normally dry mine indoors on an airer, but today put them out and a thick bath mat, tried in a couple of hours!

Some friends of ours nearly lost their house when the wind changed yesterday. A grassfire raced towards their house and they had to evacuate.

Thankfully the CFA got the fire under control just in time but the scorch marks go right up to the side of their house and all of their paddocks are burnt. They have a number of horses so had to open the gates, chase the horses and hope they made it to safety. Sadly one of the horses was just too scared and ran straight towards the fire in panic ☹. So sad.

UK Tour Guide
We went to a local talk last evening called Gardening with Changing Climates - Gardening in the Global Greenhouse. Essentially it was to give ideas on how to treat your soil for greater retention of moisture and what varieties of plants to buy that are drought resistant. He gave hard evidence of the upward trend of the uk/world getting hotter and the winds and rains becoming more extreme. Obviously no surprises as we have experienced these and know they will only get worse but still alarming to hear from a very experienced/knowledgeable horticulturist
