So I was huddled over my computer all morning with the heater on as I had back to back useless waste-of-time meetings. At lunch time I chucked a jacket over my jumper and went to the shops and got a shock - it was warm! 22 degrees and finally the cold wind has stopped. Nice!

@Lisa, that must be so scary even if it is relatively far away, is there a chance it would come closer?
The fires in BC are safely contained by theRocky Mountains in between us. But there are fires closer to home. The closest one to us has been burning on and off all summer amd is about 20 minute drive away. But it is contained. The problem with that one is that it has gone into the peat moss where it just keeps smouldering and flares up with any wind. It can do that for a long time, even from one summer to the next, with a bitterly cold winter in between. So around here we are fine, just smoky.

Terrible night for BC. The fires are threatenening some of the more heavily populated areas now, including where my sister is (they have a condo they go to every summer) and OH’s uncle and family’s town is under an evacuation alert, so they could get pulled out any time.

@Lisa, glad you will be ok but it is a tragedy isn't it, all these wild fires, which as you say, smoulder underground and burst out again. I do hope your sister and other OH uncle will not have to evacuate.
Yes, me too…but in my sister’s case, that is a second home for them. Their main residence is back here in Alberta, so even if they had to evacuate they have a place to go! Definite first world problems that’s for sure.

Summer arrived early this weekend. 28 yesterday and 30 today and this is around 8 degrees above average for early spring. Loved feeling the warm sun on my face and we had our first swim of the season! The water was a bit chilly for me - about 24 degrees (yes I am a wimp) but it was lovely once you were in

A cold change coming tonight and next week back to maximum 17-19 and cold mornings. Brrr.

We have gone back in time....to winter. A huge East Coast Low is bringing lots of rain and very cold wind. My Nephew and Wife, newly arrived home from London, are coming over tomorrow and we are going out for lunch. I said to them 'the weather is not being very kind to you' to which my Nephew replied 'we were looking forward to coming home to summer sunshine! At least we aren't homesick for the UK'

We will need jackets - jackets! - in November. Never seen before
