I was thinking of you both this morning in this lousy weather, I hope you’re enjoying your hotel and it has a good stock of books, jigsaws etc!
We are avid rummy players (super competitive!) and never travel without a pack of cards. We did manage to venture out today as we had a pre-booked tour of The Tower of London but it was damn wet, cold and miserable. We rested afterwards and have cabbed it to our pre-theatre dinner at a gorgeous french bistro in Soho. We are seeing Moulin rouge - can't wait! We saw MJ the musical last night and it was fantastic

Oh hooray, sounds like a great evening ahead of you. I hope it’s brilliant!

Goodness, high drama on our shopping trip just now - 3 little Cavalier King Charles spaniels ran into the road in front of our car to bark at a passing dog on the pavement, the wind had obviously blown their fence down and gate open and owners were out. With leads and biscuits we managed to wrangle them behind a more secure gate in their back garden while holding up the traffic - disaster averted! They were sweet dogs, glad they’re not squished.
Well done. There's been a few reports of missing dogs here today - escaped through wind blown fences & gates. I was very remiss this morning and just let the dogs out into the garden to toilet, retreating into the kitchen without checking the side gate. They came in quickly as the weather was most foul. OH was up shortly after & he went out to check the gate - luckily it was still shut fast. To be honest, I just didn't think, it's so easy.

It’s so rare we get these winds, I wouldn’t beat yourself up - it’s not usual to think of it. Just the thought of people coming home and finding their dogs have got out, it must be heart wrenching. Hopefully they’re all safe and sound, but it’s not the weather for adventures.

Oh poor baby. You might put down a few dog towels by the door in case it happens again, makes it slightly easier to clear up and gives her a bit of comfort (it won’t ruin her training just while the winds are high)
Thanks @HAH, I hadn't thought of putting towels down, great idea. I did put newspapers down but the wind blew through the dog door (blew the doors open) and blew the newspapers!
PS have just read further post, well done for taking care of the three little dogs.

It's pretty wet and windy here, but really no worse than usual at this time of year. I don't know if this is because the storm hasn't reached us, or if we're just so used to wet and windy weather that we haven't really noticed it. Some people I've spoken to have said that due to the wind direction we've been sheltered from the worst of it by the Pennines. Sorry for those who are badly affected, and oh dear Mags! Your fence!

We have also had some wild weather, but more in the form of short lived thunderstorms, including a very strange one at 5am yesterday that woke the whole family, except Chewie! (He has never cared about storms or fireworks, even when we lived close to the harbour and the whole house would shake). Between storms it:s stinking hot and humid, like the tropics. My least favourite weather! 🥵

It's been scary here lots of falling trees structural damage and stuff blowing around. I've not gone out this morning it's so bad and that rarely happens weather doesn't usually stop me. Definitely threat to health conditions here. Chris had to drive through Derbyshire into stoke on Trent yesterday and he was very worried

It's been the same in Melbourne. A warm, humid and wet start to the summer.

I don't like the gross humidity.
