Weird lump

What a lovely message from the vet! I love it: tail is wide awake! ❤ But of course, his personality will always shine through. ❤

How is darling Hugo @Kelsey
It was a rough evening, I was not able to get the cone on him by myself, he was so scared 😭💔 I was able to feed him treats through the opening but I only have two hands so I was struggling to streamline treats while getting the cone on without hitting the stitches, I was in tears 🙃 so back we went to the vet to have them put it on. Unfortunately the cone is very needed due to where the excision is so sadly he doesn’t have a choice.

Once we got back home (5 hours after I initially picked him up) I fed him his dinner and then he was very tired. But he was refusing to lay down with the cone on, he actually fell asleep standing up and tipped over at one point! I managed to finally coax him to lay down and out he went. My poor boy 🥺 so sad seeing him so out of sorts and uncomfortable. This morning he is still fighting the cone and quite irritated but he’s just now curled up on my lap for a snooze. I unfortunately have to go to work today for 5
hours and I’m nervous but I’m hoping he just sleeps and doesn’t do what Axel did…. And eat his cone 👀

Poor soul, he looks so miserable, but I'm sure that's just due to the anaesthetic. Once he's over that, he'll be more Hugo. I can see it's an awkward spot for stitches, and the cone is probably the best solution, I hope he warms to it

He’s been playing with his toys and Gizmo, so that’s a positive sign he’s adjusting to being a satellite dish 📡

They said stitches to come out in 10-14 days. Hoping it can be done on day 10… I always worry about stitches coming out too soon and the wound reopening but I’ll trust her judgement

I totally understand the difficulty of trying to get a cone on by yourself! It definitely took two of us to put the cone on Simba. Fortunately once it was on he charged around as per usual….although come to think of it that part was a nightmare, too. Sigh.
Pros and cons I suppose! Hugo is less careful now and tries to plow through everything, my legs included  but it’s nice to see him more himself so I’ll take it!

I remember once when Lilly had to wear a cone, I was CONVINCED she was deliberately bashing into everything, especially lamp posts on walks, in an attempt to deliberately destroy it.
By the end it was heavily patched up with tape 🤦‍♀️
She was trying her best to get rid of the evil cone! :giggl:
