We had a wee break, buying some lunch at a local cafe, then headed further down the peninsula towards Craignish Point. MORE single track road for Sophie to negotiate :giggl:

There was a geocache out here, yay!
And cows, cow Pat's, and general bogginess, with more people than we expected.
But also views, stunning views.

Just in the middle here, level with the wee tail of island you can see on the right is the Corryvreckan whirlpool. The distant islands are Jura on the left and Scarba on the right.

We are at the blue dot (or we were when taking these photos!)

Heading back to the car. Dogs on long leads because of roaming cattle and steep drops.

Spotted these cows coming down the road, they were more clustered on the way back. Free to roam the beaches.
Interestingly I also read that they used to swim cattle from Jura to a pier near where we parked, to bring them to the mainland for moving to market at the likes of Falkirk. They must have been tough.....

Are you in Ring of Bright Water country?
I think Gavin Maxwell and his otters were a bit further North, possibly the Southernmost point on Skye initially, then a small island just off Kyle of Lochalsh which now has one of the Skye bridge pillars planted on it (although it is still a memorial/Sanctuary I believe).
I think there are otters up and down this area though. Never seen one in the wild myself.

Looks wonderful. I was excited to see the photo of the Corryvrecken whirlpool as I read about it many years ago in Roger Deakin's brilliant book about wild swimming throughout Britain, 'Waterlog' (he eventually decides the bay with the whirlpool is too dangerous to swim across). He gives a vivid description but the book contains no pictures so it was fascinating to see a photo.

A long walk today, at least for me! Not so many photos!
Just outside of Oban to the North lies Ganavan sands, and we walked the Ganavan to Dunstaffnage Castle Circuit

Another lovely day weather wise, the odd spiter of rain which was in fact refreshing along with mixed sun and cloud cover.

First up, looking back into Oban, a bit of a dark photo.20200830_103957.jpg

This is looking northwards to Connal Bridge.
