We were back at the vet this evening to have a check-up and replace the dressing. His right foot is now dressing-free, but his left (the stapled one) is still going to be a week or so before the staples can come out. It's healing well, though, with no sign of infection.
Shadow spent the entire consultation on his back, having tummy rubs. Truly ridiculous dog

We saw the vet I don't like (funny how we are chat, chat, chat with Jordi, but with this guy we barely speak a word) but we could hear Jordi's voice. As we went to the desk to book our next appointment, a man came out of the adjoining consultation room in tears, and we saw Jordi carefully wrapping up what was obviously the body of the man's beloved cat or small dog. Gut-wrenchingly sad; I felt so sorry for him, but there's nothing that can be said by a stranger.
In happier news, there was a man in the waiting room with a lovely big yellow boy Lab who was typically enthusiastic about everything. While we were at the desk, Shadow had the odd look, but was happily slurping away at his packet of "goo". For some reason, the other dog wasn't on a lead and he suddenly bounded towards us. J body-blocked him, and Shadow looked a bit taken aback, but that was it; he went back to his goo and that was it. We explained that Shadow isn't good with other dogs, but you could tell that neither the receptionist nor the man really believed us! It's quite funny how, in these places where he feels a bit out of his depth, he actually manages far better to ignore other dogs.
