What a morning!

I'm kind of speachless...I'm really impressed at how cool and collected you sound. for all of you, including Shadow.

And in addition to the glass everywhere of course all the cold air coming in the dead of winter. Thank goodness you can get the glass replaced so quickly.

Oh no poor Shadow, that looks painful. Charlie has smashed through two french doors after squirrels, but luckily wasn't hurt at all. Hope Shadow heals quickly. Hope you're OK Fiona it's such a shock when this happens. xx :hug:

What a shock for you all! I hope shadow will heal quickly and that the new window will soon be installed! Not a nice start of the day say the least....Doerak our first dog almost did this years ago. She was very fond of my sister, and when my sister arrived Doerak almost jumped through the window. I guess she must have had a big headache that evening....

Thanks everyone. I’ve just about stopped! I had arranged to go on a nice walk with some friends this evening, but they didn’t call for thinking I wouldn’t want to. Well, quite the opposite, so when I called them and they were already out, I (literally) ran up the mountain to catch them. We had a good giggle at the expense of one of the ladies who was totally hamming up what we were putting her through. “But it’s getting dark!!”... “Yes, it tends to do that at night” 😂

While I was out, the window was fixed, so we are no longer exposed to the elements, hurrah!
Yes, it’s very easy to live in the “shoulda, woulda, coulda”, but at the end of the (admittedly rather trying) day, there was very little real damage done, and nothing lasting. So no point letting it blow out of proportion.

Talked to my sister this evening. Yesterday, she had to administer CPR to a three-year-old child, and attend to someone who had just become a quadriplegic. Yeah, a broken window and a few cuts isn’t the end of the world.

But thank you all for your concern; very much appreciated to get the sympathy when I’m feeling low x

Perspective is a great thing, but it's still been as bad for you as it has been bad for you and there shouldn't be a competition for who had the worst day, so still be gentle with yourself.

Thank heaven all is well now and the window restored. You must have jumped out of your whits when it first happened, thank heavens the dogs were not more damaged, but poor Shadow, the cut looks very sore. Hope you are not suffering from delayed shock and now cosy with new window and possibly Gin!

What a scare, large panes of glass breaking is such a fear of mine, hope Shadow's foot heals really quickly. Was it double glazed? (I'm assuming so considering your climate) that's astonishing they exerted that much strength to break a window.

Yes, double glazed and strengthened glass, but old.
We had to replace with a single-glazed unit to get it done today, but we’ll replace it at some point and use the pane we bought today for something down in Spain.
The annoying thing is that we want to replace this window/door combo at some point because it’s old and ugly, but we just haven’t thought what configuration we want. Before dogs, we used to have lots of BBQs on our terrace, now we don’t really (because the ground floor terraces are all joined and we’re not allowed to fence our area, so it would mean managing the dogs, and I can’t be doing with the stress) so our needs have changed and we’ve just not got round to replacing it.

Here it is, the window he tried to go through in our little apartment :)
