What made you smile today?

Huge congratulations, @Jen! That can't be an easy ask for a prospective employer, so they obviously really want you, brill :)
It sounds a lot better than it is.

Most solicitors firms have a 3 month notice period so they wouldn’t have expected me until about November anyway. So taking Christmas into account it’s actually not that much further away.

Now we have to go and view nursery’s.. which is making me feel quite sad 😔

You poor thing, I can imagine that - BUT you’ll hopefully see some fantastic nurseries, and Rory will thrive. My nephew went to nursery from 9 months old as my sister went back to work, and his language development and social skills developed light years ahead of his cousins who were at home with their mum. He loved it, and really settled - it helped him to be comfy with lots of people, interact well with other children and it meant home time was really precious. Hopefully that’ll be your experience too x

Congratulations, Jen! That sounds like a good move. Are you going to be full-time or part-time?

Visiting nurseries should be interesting - my daughter-in-law has been doing that too. I was talking to friends today about one of the nurseries she has seen as their youngest child still attends it. They mentioned something that we hadn’t thought of: staff turn-over/continuity. It seems that, although they think the nursery is good, there have been frequent staff changes over the time that their children have been there, more than they would have hoped. So that might be a question to add to your checklist!

Full-time. It was hard to decide but I worked really hard for my career and enjoy what I do, so me and OH decided I should go back full time. I am harbouring some mam guilt because of it but I’m hoping it will teach Rory about hard work and ambition (there’s me trying to make myself feel better 😖).

Luckily Rory’s grandparents are amazing - so my mam is going to have him 3 days a week and MIL one. So he’ll only have to go to nursery one day.

That’s a good point - I’ll add that to my list ☺

Yep, it makes all the difference! Our childcare centre has had the same centre director (who I love) for the past 13 yrs. I think it's like schools and principals.

Congratulations on the new job @Jen that's great 🙂

I went back full time when Boogielet1 was six months old. I never regretted it.
