...is that lovely
@Aitch and her equally lovely OH have added another Spanish dog to their canine family!
Nine days ago I started getting frantic calls from both the UK and Spain about a dog here in the UK who needed a new forever home. There was a lot of scrambling trying to arrange a foster, transportation and a bunch of other details. I was even asked if I could drive him back down to Spain! "I think I know the perfect person," I told my contact, "But it's a long shot". I had immediately thought of
@Aitch (for reasons I'll explain later) but also knew it hadn't been long since she and her OH had lost their beloved Bear.
So I asked, and held my breath.
Her initial answer absolutely left me in a puddle: this is a woman with a huge heart. I got more information on the situation with the dog in need of a home and
@Aitch gave it due consideration. In the background, plans were being made and unmade for different fosters and transpiration and all around trying to figure out what was going on with the poor little guy as in the meanwhile his previous adopter had given us a deadline of this weekend to take him away.
When
@Aitch gave her answer that she wanted to give him a home and wanted him as soon as possible, first I called my Spanish contact and we both had a big ugly happy cry. She works in a bank and had to run outside and hide so everyone didn't see her balling! Then the Lambie network went into action. I volunteered to go get our Spanish boy and bring him to
@Aitch.
@Beanwood , who had already been putting together a behaviour plan, volunteered Otter's puppy crate and to keep Carbon. I invited myself to stay the night at
@Boogie's and use her house as the transfer point. Even
@snowbunny was in on it, giving advice to
@Aitch about Leishmaniosis.
So hey, triple 007 points to
@snowbunny and her "ARE WE THERE YET??!!" posts here because, yeah...she was totally in on it.
@kateincornwall too because I had to cancel lunch with her on Sunday to do my doggie taxi gig. You all are very good Secret Agents!
Saturday I drove from Padstow to Bristol, got the crate (thank you
@Mr Beanwood for making sure it was secure in the TARDIS) and then from Bristol to Rochdale. Carbon, Echo and Tatze had a huge play last night and then it was time for the big day.
This morning our pup's former adopter arrived with him, I got in loads of cuddles and then we were off for
@Aitch 's down in Buckinghamshire.
She's just sent me the most lovely photo of our boy sleeping in a big puppy pile with all the whole canine family.
I can't even say how grateful I am to
@Aitch, her OH and their generous spirits. They even dealt with a weepy American and kept their cool.
But there's a little more to this story...
