What made you smile today?

My special boy is 6 months old today. Where has the time gone?
I remember thinking that with all of my children all those years ago. They are all in their 30's to 40's now and I wish, back then, that I had realised how quickly it would go. They are all fairly scattered around the world now and I rarely see my grandchildren so it is cherished time when I do see them. However I do have lovely memories of my children growing up.

Smile this morning . I let Reuben off lead/longline at Golitha this morning , he hesitated and then ran into the woods and I thought Oh bugger, here we go again  I called him , no response so I carried on walking with Nelly . Then I blew the whistle , hey presto he appeared in front of me, looking slightly guilty at his unintended run but I didnt tell him off because he came back pretty smartish to the whistle . He came up good as gold for his lead on , had a piece of sausage, given his ball to carry and we then headed home , an improvement so I will ignore the fact that he took himself off for a few minutes x

On our walk this morning we passed some new houses with gardens that overlook the towpath. In one of these was the most gorgeous puppy, looked like a collie spaniel cross. He was delighted to meet Joy, wagging everything that wasn't his head, and squeaking happily. Joy was also very taken with him, she was wagging and squeaking back and giving him kisses through the fence. An elderly man came out to see what the fuss was about, presumably the puppy's owner. I tend to go a bit gushy when I see puppies, so I was cooing away over him and asking how old he was. 'Four month' the man replied. 'Oh! He's absolutely gorgeous!' I gushed. This man was obviously an old style Yorkshire man. He didn't do gushing. His reply was what I would call succinct. He just said ' 'Andful'. I walked away smiling.

I smiled this morning when leaving a message on someone's answerphone, a rather tedious one so I was naturally gazing at my beautiful black Cassis while I did so --- when I could finally begin the message with "Hello" I saw her look back over her shoulder at the front door, ears pricked :). When I put the receiver back down she was insistent that I open the door so she could have a look in the garden !!:):)
Bought Quinn a lickit mat and one hour in and she's still licking!
Think I will look for one of those, be useful on dull winter afternnoons, help with keeping her weight down perhaps
