What made you smile today?

I'm smiling because my son has managed to fix our tumble dryer which packed up the day the weather broke :) with the help of the internet and utube videos! Just for the cost of the necessary part.

We are careful how we use it, and in all honesty if I was home alone I probably wouldn't bother. But with three of us here in autumn and winter it is a great help, so I'm very pleased that he has been able to do the repairs.

I'm just back from a lovely rally training session with Rajah, my friend's Goldie. He's so eager to please and I love the way he trots along looking up at me with a smile on his face. I also really appreciate my friend trusting me with her precious boy. We've just started 'downs' and I'd forgotten how gradually you have to introduce handler movement when you want the dog to stay in a down - we got as far as me swaying backwards and forwards with Rajah staying down. It made me smile on the way home remembering training this with Molly years ago - I worked through the Kikopup video where you end up leaping around and shouting 'Apple Pie' - and how far we've come. The other day I put her in a down (admittedly on her settle mat) in the barn while I worked with someone else for 20 minutes and she just stayed there, bless her cotton socks.

Kipper has invented a new game this last week. At around 7pm if we’re on the sofa together, he’ll suddenly hop up and nose bump my shoe (that I’m wearing). He’ll keep nose bumping it very deliberately until I give it to him, and then he’ll prance around victoriously with it. He then rolls about on the floor ottering a bit, and repeats the whole shenanigans with my other shoe. It’s hilarious :D

It sounds a bit like our slipper game in the mornings. There's usually only one by the bed when I wake up, so I say 'Joy, where's my slipper?' She nudges it with her nose. I say 'Not that one, the other slipper, find other slipper!' Off she trots, then comes back doing that same totally joyful victorious prance with it, before flinging it down at my feet! Also hilarious and a good start to the day!
