Rory's feeling better after being quite ill over the weekend. He's stealing things again which always makes me smile. It's a big indicator of how he's feeling, he's stolen loads of things today so I think he's feeling very Rory

Cassie makes me smile when often late afternoon or early evening she goes and sits resolutely by her basket which holds a collection of walking equipment, toys and dummies. This is where we practice various bits of training and games that we have learnt at the classes we have attended. She makes it quite clear she wants to do something, by just sitting there watching me whatever I am doing. I find it very endearing. We either do some scent games, or more recently the movement puzzles which we started. Ten minutes of either and she goes and has a big drink and settles down for the evening.
I knew when I got a puppy that I wanted more than just the "two walks a day" life together and I'm so glad I listened to the advice regarding mental activity. There is no food kept in that part of the house, so it isn't just that --- she has a seperate set of poses for telling me when she is still hungry!

They are games that you can play whereby the dog learns what to do in order to get a reward, it's sort like reverse thinking! It's hard to describe and we only do the very basics. Two bowls on the ground and by going from one to the other she gets a treat and then gradrually introduce something like a cone that she has to walk round between the dishes. That's a very basic description, and I would love to know more myself.
Really, I don't think you need feel guilty - I am quite sure Flicka has the best life with you!

Spending my "birthday voucher" in the tea room at a local garden centre where I somtimes get Cassie's food in the pet department - for £5 voucher, I had a pot of Welsh Brew tea and beans on toast, it was just the job after a brisk and chilly walk with Cass. She came too and enjoyed the attention

I never have beans on toast at home these days, and in any case it's ridiculous how much nicer they are if someone else as done them for me!
