Most days we have our front and back doors open (with closed security/fly screens) to let the ocean breeze through the house. Ella often likes to snooze by the front door to get the breeze, enjoy the smells and watch the street.
Our neighbour that lives a couple of doors down to the left is the daughter of our elderly neighbour that lives a few doors diagonally to the right so is often walking up and down the street. She's met Ella a few times and absolutely loves her. Now, every morning I hear her walk past, Ella woofs once or twice and I hear her call "good morning Ella" or "hi Ella, are you having a nice day?"
