A peaceful Sunday evening and Joy is busy with her evening Kong. Loki, the dog nextdoor is outside and started barking, which usually means someone is coming through the gates. Joy heard this, gave a low growl in support of her friend Loki, then clearly worked out where her priorities lay and returned to her Kong. Such a typical Labrador!:rofl:

So of course now I have to ask, how is Duncan different from your Labs past and present? I have my own impressions but based on a very small sample size as you just don’t see them in them ‘in the wild’ that often (I’ve mainly seen flatcoats at dog shows).
They are very sweet natured gentle and kind. They are much less full on than most labs and quieter. They grunt in play, pile on you in fun and like to snuggle. You have to be careful not to bore them. If they don't want to do something come back to it later. They know stuff you don't think you've taught them. They love everyone in a big hearted full on way. They are sensitive and when upset go and have a think about it . They remember everything and will happily pretend they don't. I loved him completely from the first day and realised that he wasn't as tough as the labs. They are so easy emotionally he's a bit more soft. He is very intelligent but not obvious about it. I am often surprised by him he learns from the other dogs. His coat is silky and drys really quickly. He yodels and likes to sing the song of his people in cars. His jaws are less destructive than a labs. He's runs so quickly and leaps really high. like the labs he is the best companion and so trustworthy. He is beautiful inside and out and he makes me laugh. I would love another.

That’s a beautiful description. 🥰 Some of what you said, for example being more soft and having to go off and have a think if they upset really reminds me of my Rotties. The yodelling - I’d love that too! Thank you for the insights. ❤

We had Molly’s owner round for afternoon tea yesterday. His daughter bought him round. We had invited Molly too but she was sleeping so they decided to leave her at home. It was such a lovely afternoon, full of laughter. Molly’s owner will be 90 next month. You might remember he was very very ill earlier in the year. He struggles to walk but will only use a walking stick……he has started to take Molly for very short toilet walks - it’s been his mission to walk Molly again (even though not far). The power of dog 😀
