It was an early start this morning. OH left for work around 6.30am and I was in my first Teams meeting at 7am. At around 7.15am, my office door slowly opens and Nathan silently slides toast and a cuppa onto the corner of my desk

So a smile from yesterday

Every few months I meet up with a group of friends - one a past nursing colleague, we worked together in various settings over the years, another the lovely lady who works in a local library and who I got to know by increasing my use of the library during and after Covid. It turns out her best friend is a cousin to my ex-colleague, she's a retired headmistress who now teaches one day a week , so we have formed this little group of lunching "ladies"
We each live in adjacent market towns on the Welsh Border and take it turns to go to each one - using our bus passes, which adds to the fun and also means we can safely indulge in a glass or two of wine.
It always is such a fun outing - catching up on each others families, work and retirement plans, going over the past , where of course everything was better!
Definitely makes me smile!

Yes! Sounds similar to get togethers I have from time to time with other retired and now single women of my age. Always lots to catch up on and lots to laugh about. You can't beat a bunch of (slightly!) older ladies getting together!

@Selina27, that sounds perfect to have such friendship. I have a bus pass, never used it as there are NO buses where I live!!

When we are away in the van, if there is a bus stop near to the campsite, we get it and use our bus passes. Never thought we would both enjoy getting the bus but saves a lot of faffing around finding parking. Red enjoys the buses too and it’s lovely seeing people smile when they see her

We're not all single - two have husbands. Very useful they come in too - for transport to and from various hostelrys that are not on said bus route

I know exactly what you mean!
I use the bus these days when I need to go to Hereford, I drive part of the way and leave my car in a village . It saves a bit of fuel and the cost of parking.

Very much joking about the belly dancing, believe me, no-one needs to see my belly

It is a lovely, quirky place and people are so friendly and helpful. When Steve was up there doing some work on our villa people would just pop in and offer help. So different to mean old Sydney. There are only around 2,500 permanent residents but quite a few tourists of course. And given I am sitting here at my work desk in a fleece, overcoat and heater going and still freezing the warm weather will be VERY much appreciated

We are taking 5 days to drive up with Maxx which is about 5 hours per day. I don't think we will be going in October as hoped as we are still madly renovating. November I suspect.

Here are of the weekly activities....some sound so much fun. It reads a bit like a senior citizens village but honestly it's not!

November will soon be here. We are so used to Men’s Shed’s here but not heard of Women’s Sheds. Those activities look great and so much choice. It sounds like a fabulous place to retire to
