What other breeds do you like?

Are there any other breeds you're particularly drawn to? I really want a little working cocker, but only when I have more time on my hands to get it right from the start! And the more I see pointy-nosed sight hounds, the more I'm drawn to them.

I love lots of the herding dogs, but don't think I'd ever want one.

I'm also getting more drawn to little dogs with big personalities. One of the positive gundog trainers in the South East of the UK has just got a Chihuahua puppy. She looks absolutely hysterical peeking up from between the three black Labs she lives with :)

I LOVE weimaraners and vislas 😍

I also like big daft dogs like rotties and boxer dogs.

I really really dislike collies, sight hounds and huskies. I don’t think they’re cute at all - and I’m yet to meet particularly nice ones of any of those breeds.

Obviously I love little dogs , and yes what they lack in size they make up for in character ! Always had a big and little together , they are so comical . I also love Flatcoats , Greyhounds and well , all breeds really . The ones I would never consider are the Husky types , I think they need to work and require much dedication due to their tendency to leg it !

I love spaniels of all types, but I'm especially drawn to show cockers. There are a number of blue roan show cockers locally who have lovely natures and I wonder if they may be a distant relative of Jessie, who I owned mid-80s to mid-90s (sadly lost her to cancer aged 10). Being a one-dog household I've probably only got enough life left for one more dog after Molly and I think it would have to be a Lab or spaniel.

Like all dogs but like short haired gun dogs best. Looked at gsp and pointers but just come back to labs. Shiny dogs I love but I don't mind a bit of wirehairedness

Molly is half Chesapeake Bay Retriever (her mum) but I think most of the things I like come from her Lab side. She is much more reserved with strangers than Labs usually are, fiercely loyal to us (which is lovely) and I have had to work quite hard to ensure her house-guarding tendencies stay on the acceptable side.

I grew up with a German Shepherd and would love another but for my situation now, a lab was the best choice and I would definitely have another lab. I've never been a 'cutesy' dog person but I know a border terrier that is just so lovely with a gorgeous nature and after having a big dog I can see the advantages of a smaller one, mainly because you can pick the little fellas up and they don't take up so much room.

I think if I ever get another dog, whatever it is I would also have to have a lab at the same time.

I would fancy a proper straight-backed German Shepherd. Or a Rottie. I love the look of the working Cocker but I don't think I could give it the life it really needs. But having only had one Lab, and for such a short time, I really want another one at some point. Of all the pedigree breeds at training, they have the biggest personalities.

I love dachsunds but I know they’re very yappy which would drive me mad. Not really that keen on small dogs.
I love Great Danes.
I can’t imagine getting another breed other than a Labrador but if I was forced to it would be a whippet or a cockerpoo - I feel guilty to Plum writing that down!

I love all dogs, but I would like to have Irish wolfhound. My husband says I too small to have one being only 4ft 11ins,but
like Fiona says, they too have such a short lifespan which stopped me having one.

I love all dogs but I have always had a collie or collie cross in amongst my dogs. My current collie cross is part husky and she was so easy to train and is a really loving companion. She also has the most amazing sense of humour which is typical of both breeds.
I cannot imagine being without a gundog either. I grew up around labs and I love their personalities.

I am very much drawn to Hungarian Vizsla's (smooth coated) or Dalmatians. I have a hankering for a rescue German Shorthaired Pointer :facepalm:from a Cyprus rescue centre. xx
My fave non-lab breeds are the same as Helen's! My dream is a Dalmatian or a German Short haired Pointer. Also love a Vizsla and a cocker spaniel (black coat)!
