Wispa's not well

I will be thinking of you both tomorrow. There’s nothing worse than knowing there’s something wrong but not knowing what or being able to do anything to help. I’ve been in a similar situation before so I’m guessing while your worrying what it might be your also hoping they find out what it is so something can be done. I hope it all goes well and I’m sure the nurse will take great care of Wispa.

I'm sorry to hear Wispa has not been feeling well, and hope that the scan gives some clarity. I especially feel for / with you as Merlin has not been quite himself recently, dripping pee and a bit lethargic, and has just had a couple of urine tests and this morning an ultrasound, to rule out anything horrible. Luckily all came back clear (phew!!!), and we just have to wait for the lab to send back their results, but the test done at the vets was ok. They were checking for raised cortisol levels to rule out Cushings, so I am so happy they said he is ok. Fingers crossed your scan goes well... the wait is horrible I know.

There’s still nothing conclusive, so I’m now waiting for more results. Wispa was very good and didn’t need any further sedation other than the two tablets I gave her early this morning. The scan showed some unusual spots on her gall bladder and some thickening on the wall of her bladder, so although she was the first to be scanned this morning she was kept until lunchtime for a further scan when her bladder had filled a bit more. The vet has sent away a urine sample and some cells from the bladder wall for analysis. She hopes to check whether the antibiotics are the right ones for tackling whatever UTI Wispa has - or whether it’s more sinister than that - but the results won’t be back for a few days.

I’ve got a few more of the antibiotic tablets and painkillers and also some Loxicom (an updated version of Metacam?) which she can have once a day with or after food - but as yet she won’t really eat. She seems comfortable, though, and isn’t trembling, as she did from time to time yesterday, so I hope she’ll feel more like eating once the sedation has worn off completely. The current challenge is persuading her to take her tablets. She’s too lethargic to catch the Brie&antibiotic parcel and too suspicious to eat it from my hand! Eventually I disguised today’s second dose with a peanut butter sandwich! (It seems that pancreatitis has been ruled out, as I don’t have to keep to low fat.)

Thank you all for your support - and please keep the lambies going.
